Comments: Does anyone have any knowledge of my uncle, James Lamoine "Tiny" Walls from Blum, Texas? I was named after him, and now all his brothers and sisters have passed. I would like to know more about how he died. I have heard that he was killed in the Battle of Bloody Ridge in early September 1951, while marching up to the front by an artillery round, never having really fought. I just would like to know. Thanks.

Comments: Woolard Strickland was one of my dad's older brothers. My dad was only about 10 yrs old when Woolard went MIA. I had heard some stories of family members of memories of him when he lived at home before he went to war. It has always been a mystery to me that he has been MIA since 1950. If anyone knew him in this Regiment, or has any news since 1950 on him let us know. As far as I know he would have been around 21 at the time of MIA, and did not marry or have any children to the best of my knowledge. I can be contacted by email or by cell phone: (336)402-1626

This is the info I found so far on this website:

Master Sergeant Strickland was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on November 26, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.

Comments: In my own search for information on my uncle SFC Roland Clatterbuck who went missing 13 Feb 1951 I have noted the many many people searching for information on lost relatives and friends from these few incredibly difficult days for the 38th. Love company inparticular was decimated. I managed to be connected to James Earp by his daughter who vividly remembered my uncle from the few days leading up to this huge battle. Mr. Earp, who has since passed noted that few survived unscathed from the 38th through the first months of the war and through the period of 13 February 1951. I would be interested in hearing from any Love company survivors of this period who might have remembered my uncle, SFC Roland Clatterbuck, who served from the first days of the Korean War. It would be nice if a 38th/Love company website link might be established to link the many people brought to together by the losses of love company during this timeframe - their seem to be so many.

Comments: Hello I am trying to track down anybody who served in Korea with my father-in-law, Reynaldo E. Acosta might have about his activities in Korea before and during his time of capture.

For whatever reason, he departed ways with his wife and daughter in 1973 (when my wife was 9). She had very little contact with him since and knows nothing about his service in Korea other than what we have recently discovered.

He passed away May 6, 2008 (which we only recently discovered) at the same time we learned we had previously been searching for info based on the name he went by, Eduardo, and not Reynaldo.

I have since discovered he was in the 2nd Infantry Division/38th Infantry Regiment and possibly either A or B company. I even found a post made by him on this site nine years ago (where he mentions A and B companies).

I have also learned he was captured by Chinese forces on May 18, 1951 (I assume during the "May Massacre") and freed Sept. 9, 1953; that he is quoted in the book "Broken Soldiers;" and that he was awarded the Silver Star.

I would be grateful to establish contact with anybody who knew and served with him in Korea...either before or during capture.

Thanks in advance,

--Mike

during WW-I, it's tent city was leveled by a storm.
The 38th became known as the Cyclone's.-----------

a field of blue. In the center of the shield, in white, are the letters "C" and "Y" interlocked.-------

Comments: Sergeant First Class Hendrick was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. When his position was overrun on February 12, 1951, he was severely wounded by small arms fire and enemy bayonets, then taken Prisoner of War. He survived a 100 mile death march to Pyangyang, North Korea. He died as a prisoner on June 17, 1951.

I am his son and looking for anyone that might remember him especially if you were with him when he died. His nick name was "Hot Rod" he loved cars and racing and often talked of his "soon to be born child" he could not wait to see.
