Any little thing will be helpful, I am trying to get an idea of

Thanks.

Comments: My name is also Benjamin, and I am looking for any
information on my father, if he was a part of the
38th Inf Reg. He had earned a Purple Heart in action
during the Korean War, and received a Medical
discharge soon after. He has since passed; 21 May
2010, Casper Wyoming. Like many of the men that came
back, he said little of his experiance in country. I
had served in Ouijongbu from 94-95 and was proud to
wear the IndianHead and say Second to None.

I am again wearing the patch, but this time on my
right shoulder. I am a member of the NY National
Guard with the 27th B.S.T.B. out of Syracuse, oddly
enough where the 38th was organized in 1917. My unit
flys the RQ-7B Shaddow UAV, for the 3rd Brigade, 2nd
I.D. Again I'm saying Second to None to officers of
the 82nd and gladly pi$$ing them off!

As a child I recall a cigar box that had his uniform
items; cloth rank that was sewed on his uniform
sleave, Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), fortegerre, and
his Class A or B plastic name tag for the shirt or
jacket. I also recall several ribbons; Purple and
White (Purple Heart), an evenly striped blue and
white (UN), another blue and white ribbon (also UN),
and the Pres. Unit Citation with the Yin and Yang in
the center. The Unit Crest was also in there, and
that is where I am having the most trouble with. My
uncle served with the 3rd ID in Germany. But Rock of
the Marne is what I am recalling from when I was a
child, before I realized my uncle served also.

I was able to get a replacement Purple Heart thru
proper channels, and have his records reflect this.
With the infamous Fire at Indianapolis back in
the '70s, there is nothing to go on that was
important to our Korean War Heros.

Is there anyone that can help me solve this puzzle?

Lauzier, who served three years in the Army during
the Korean War and was involved in some significant
combat. He died in 1981 and never spoke about the
war but received significant recognition for his
service and valor. He was a Canuck from Northern
Maine. Here is what I know, which is mainly from a
copy of the DD-214 Honorable Discharge form: He
enlisted and reported into active US Army service in
March, 1950. He completed a Leaders Course in 1950
at Fort Dix NJ and became a platoon sergeant during
the war. He received wounds in battle and a Purple
Heart medal on or about September 4, 1952 in Korea.
His infantry unit was the 38th Regiment, 2nd
Division. The database lists 3 KIA's on the day my
Dad was wounded. As a squad leader I know he was
impacted by losses in his unit so he never spoke
about his service taking it to the grave in 1981 at a
young age. About 4 months after getting injured in
combat, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant on
December 15, 1952. Prior or around his discharge in
1953, he returned to Van Buren as a local hero and
was interviewed by a newspaper(s). The reason he was
interviewed as a local hero was not just due to his
honorable service and medals, but because he
participated and represented either his unit or the
State of Maine in the inaugural parade of President
Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. He carried a unit flag
or State flag, not quite sure. I have a service
photo that had to have been taken between 1950 and
1953. It can also be found in the dictionary under
the term: swagger! Let me know.

Comments: I like to hear the detail(s)/stories about Americans
who've been in contact with -or remember- the Dutch
soldiers during the Korean War. I would like to use
this information for my book.

Best regards,

Comments: Anyone knowing any stories or served in the same unit who may have
known my uncle please contact me. I would love to hear them. My mom
said his nickname was Ratz or Rats. He was only 19 years old so my mom
had a hard time when I left for the Army when I was 18. I served only
during peace time in the 101st AB Division just after Desert Storm. I can't
begin to imagine being in a war zone let alone being captured. I hope they
can recover all these POW/MIA's and bring them home where they belong.
Thank you to all that have served our country and the families that have
lost your loved one.
