Comments: We are working on a scrapbook for my father-in-law who served with the 45th Infantry Division, 279th Infantry Regiment, Company A. He received basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, arrived in Korea in December of 1951, fought at T-Bone Hill and returned home in May of 1952. One friend he has mentioned, who was killed in Korea, was George Crawford.

Comments: Joined National Guard in Alexander City, Alabama in 1951. Went to Ft. Jackson in South Carolina. Serial Number NG24540593. Went with First Cavalry Division to Korea and remained in First Cavalry until 45th Division releived First Cavalry. Two friends were with me in the First Cavalry and 45th Divisions named Emery D. Hickey from Mobile, Alabama and an Ectman from California. I am looking for Warrant Officer in Co I 279th and anyone else that knew me. Most likely those who were from Stillwell and surrounding area of Oklahoma might remember my time on the front lines. It is important I find someone who can verify the situation I was in at that time. I was on the front lines ten and a half months out of a year in Korea.

Comments: I'm looking for information about my papaw who served in Korea. His name is Gerald Basford. He was a combat medic in the army out of the 915th sergical hospital regiment K Co. Hewas base out of Camp Pickett VA. He was a corporal. I didn't know much about him during this time cause he never talked about it. He told my father very little about what he went through except that he was in alot of battles including HeartbreakRidge. I know he recieved 3 Bronze stars during the time he spent there. I'm 23 years old now in my second year in the AirForce and I'm just now finding out info about him. I do have a newfound in me cause of some of the things my father told me about him. He passed away a few years ago and I really didn't know alot about him. I do know is that I really miss him and it makes me proud to know you all served and protected us during a real bad time. Comments: We were on 1229 ridge suporting roc august 27 1953 a cornel carter came to our tank positions in need of help 6 men from our unit followed him into the dmz we were to clear a space for a chopper to pick up james r smaley who had been seperated from his unit and managed to stay alive on frogs and berries for 45 days carter from el paso tx was surveyor locating the center line of the dmz when he found smalley in a near death condition smalley survived
