Comments: My dad, SFC Joseph C. Kawucha, was assigned to the 7th MP Co. in Korea in 1954 - 1955.
I have a piece of memorabilia that he brought back, but I'm not sure of it's significance. It is a polished, twisted piece of wood approximately 22" long. On each end is attached a .50 cal round. The bottom round has the head cut off and the top end has the bullet cut off. A Buffalo nickel is soldered to the top, where the primer would be. On the side of this round (front?)are the crossed pistols with 1/2 of a rifle bullet on either side.
My brother refers to this as a ceremonial "Buffalo Gore", but I'm not sure if this is correct.
Can anyone give me some info as to the correct name and use of this item? I have pictures if you need them.

Comments: I and 11 other French speaking MP's were originally destined to go TDY to the French Foreign Legion in French Indo-China. We decided not to volunteeer. We all wound up in MP companies all over Korea. I and Cpl. DUMONT went to the 7th MP Company up in Mauser Valley in May, 1954. Our pay records disappeared immediately after and I and DUMONT went without money for 90 days until the US Army created pay records for us. Apparently we were to start the PHOENIX program in what was later to become Vietnam. Dien Bien Phu fell 30 days later.
I spent a lot of time running around the mined hills looking for Slicky Boys and infiltrators. I also was a "Road MP."
I have the 7th Infantry Division Book for that period of time with all the names.

Comments: Dad was in the Punch Bowl area. I'm not sure of the exact chronolgy but he was in Korea from the summer of 51 to the summer of 52. He was from Kershaw SC. He passed away in 1994 and was so proud of his service. He never talked in great detail about his time there. I myself have forgotten some of the names he told me about, but his "partner" was a short, stocky fellow from the coal mining area of PA. I don't know the correct spelling of his name, but I'll make an attempt at it phonetically. (Pujohomitz, Pucihomicz).
