Comments: I enlisted in regular army feb.1949.Sent to tokyo japan april 1949 with 1st cav. at camp drake until july 18 1950where I was on occupation duty until korean war broke out.My unit landed in korea at yongdongpo and I served on the line until april 29th 1951 when Iwasgranted emergency leave due to my fathers near fatal accident. I spent the rest of my enlistment stateside until my discharge on june 14th 1952 with permanent rank of sergeant first class.

Comments: Clyde Edwin Terry is my uncle and brother to Lorene Terry Stewart, my mother. Uncle Clyde served in the 7th Cavalry Regiment before, during, and after WWII, Korea and into the 60's. Clyde Terry retired from the U.S. Army in the mid 60s and very seldom shared his war experiences. We know at least three of his buddies were shot dead next to him in foxholes in WWII and Korea.
I would like any information about Clyde Terry or anyone who remembers Uncle Clyde. Especially desired is the unit and battles his unit fought. Clyde Terry served in the U. S. Army from 1938 to about 1964 and I know he was in the 7th Cavalry Regiment by the patch he wore on his uniform in family pictures. Most likely in one or more of the following units : 1st Squadron, 2nd Batallion, 3rd Squadron, 4th Batallion or 5th Squadron of the 7th Cavalry Regiment.
The Terry family had and may still have a large photo of his unit. I believe it was a squadron but I'm not sure. He was in the Pacific theater from New Guinea to the Phillipine campaigns then to Japan. Also he was in Korea from Inch'on north to the Yalu river then pushed back by the Chinese.

Comments: My father served in K Co of the 7th cav, arrived in Korea in 1950, said he was part of the ststeside cav,what they called 3rd Bn. Took part in the breakout from Pusan and made the link up with the X corps. Never knew this until 1987 when I read an article on the breakout in History mag. Ask him when he got to korea and what he knew of the breakout said his company was part of the infantry support for the Tank unit. Anyone who served with him I would like to talk with, he is still living in Tennessee where he was from.

Comments: my dad was Paul Vanderpool served in korea from june 1950 - 1951 trying to find out any info at all. only person he ever mentioned was WD Brown. i have apicture of him and 3 other cav members standing in front of hq sign in korea. dd-214 states ; 3 bronze stars, purple heart; army comm. medal, korean svc medal. any information helpful thanks , Dale Vanderpool

Comments: My father, Sgt. Delbert Rice, was is the 7th Calvary Regt., 1st Calvary Division, Co.D. He was in Korea in 1951. Does anyone remember him and would you be willing to share any stories. He doesn't talk much about the war and I would just like to know about his tour of duty.

Comments: My father Lietenant Fred C. Matthews III was in the 7th calvary 2nd battalion. He played mostly company ball in 1963 -1964. There was a picture of him in the Stars and Stripes paper. I'm having trouble finding the issue. Would anyone happend to know the exact months of basketball season and if his picture would be in the pacific edition or Korean edition of Stars and Stripes. I've already taken a trip to the Library of Congress and I was unsuccessful. Can anyone help me?
