Comments: My friend's father was assigned to "K" Co 32nd Inf in Korea from 1953-1955. His name was Cpl. Wallace Mosel.
He passed away a few months ago. We are assembling a display case for his burial flag and awards. I am looking for the proper insignia for his regiment. I have found a shoulder patch for the 7 Division. Is there an additional shoulder patch or other significant insignia for the 32nd or for "K" Co? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
SMSgt Nancy Smith

Comments: I recently found amongst my Grandmother's belongings a letter from my father to my Grandmother after the battle of Pork Chop Hill. In his letter he included a copy of the "Buccaneer", a daily newspaper distributed to the troops. There was an article about a medic that he sent home. He stated that this medic was amazing and and that everything they said about him was true and then some. I'm just curious who this medic was/is. His name is not mentioned and my father didn't mention his name either. Does anyone recall who he is? They article was in the 18 July 1953 "Buccaneer" (2176 days in Korea-printed on it), distributed to the men of the 32nd 7th 'Love Co.' and probably the others as well. I'll write exactly what it says since I can't seem to cut and paste it here......
-------
MEDIC SETS UP "AID STATION"

An heroic medic of the 32nd Infantry "Buccaneer" Regiment walked out under enemy artillery fire to care for the wounded during a recent attack on a 7th Division outpost.

Though his company had secured most of the hill enemy fire made it impossible for him to evacuate the stricken men. He set up his own aid station in a bunker and for three hours, though Chinese rounds were falling around him, he treated the men.

1st Lt. WIlliam C. Moore, Platoon leader said, "I saw him risk his life to load two seriously wounded men on a personnel carrier though rounds were falling around him continuously. When he wasn't treating the wounded he was carrying ammunition up to the fighting men and cleaning rifles which had been made useless by the rain and mud."

Sgt. Donald E. Cathron who was with the aid man at the beginning of the fight said, "I crawled up that hill, he walked up it. I never saw a man so fearless in the face of death. I left him about 9:00 o'clock and when I returned three hours later he was still working."

A little after nine the Buccaneer medic was attempting to bring a seriously wounded man into the bunker when a mortar round exploded near him, breaking his arm and cutting him about the face.

Refusing evacuation in the safety of the personnel carrier the 32d Infantry medic walked almost a mile down the hill to the regular aid station saying that there were men more seriously wounded than he who needed evacuation.
--------------------------------------------------

I realize there are other heroic stories like this, but this guy made a huge impression on my dad. I thought others might be interested in the story and I would love to know who he was.

Comments: I have recently learned that my first cousin, Charles Larry Scott, 20 years old, from Bedford, VA died on 12/2/1950 at the Chosin Reservoir. His body was never recovered. Assumed during the withdrawal it was left behind. He was a member of "C" Company, 1st Batt 32nd Inf

There are 7 first cousins left of this great kid. He was an only child. Frankly, we never knew exactly what happened to him - only that he was reported missing in action on 12/2/50 and declared dead 12/31/53. I saw a newspaper article recently, called the 800 number and received good but very general information about where he was when killed.

Is there anyone out there who remembers him?
If so, can anyone add anything to our memories of him - no matter what they are?

He was just a kid - 20 years old - but he was one of us, loved, and his memory treasured. Anything you can add would be appreciated.

To any of you who fought for us in that terrible battle - thank you. God bless you. We are in your debt forever for your service.

My father, Robert Mintz, had a korean War buddie that lived near us when I was young. I only recall that I called him either Mr. Williams or Mr. Williamson. Mr. Williams was also in Love Co. will be held at Arlington on 26 Sep 2005. I know that 1LT Kempen was
from New Castle, DE and was in the 32nd INFANTRY RGT. at the time of
his death at/near the Chosin Resivoir, 28 Nov 1950. I am interested in
any
details anyone may be able to share, or perhaps a picture.

Comments: To whom it may concern,
I am CPT Benjamin C. Boekestein, currently at the Infantry Captain's Career Course in Ft. Benning GA. I am researching 1st BN 32nd Infantry for a tactical analysis paper, reference the Chosin Reservoir. I have specific interest in C co 32nd Infantry because my Grandfather, CPL Carroll Burgess, served in it - although possibly not at Chosin. I do not know if he was in Korea before Dec. 1950. I am searching for any veterans or others with information about the battalion or my grandfather. My email addresses are benjamin.boekestein@us.army.mil, and bcboek02@yahoo.com. My phone number is (270) 498-0994. This is of interest for my paper and also my family, my grandfather died in 1959 and not much is known of his military service.

Very Respectfully,
Ben Boekestein

Keywords: I am intersted in finding someone that might have served with my brother in Korea. His name was Pvt. Domingo J. Gonzales. He was killed near Tallylong, Korea on Oct.24, 1951. I don't have too much information except that he served with the 32D Infantry Regiment. I also think he was with the 33rd. co. Any information that anyone could provide the family would be greatly appreciated. The family has always wished to know more about his final days.

Comments: Looking back over the years and remembering
Korea saddens me to think that we had to lose
so many men. Here we are over fifty years
later and we are involved in another conflict.
A Korea veteran has never complained about
his service in Korea to my knowledge. Yet he
has been cast aside as if he never existed or
was ever in a war. News Media will and have
been comparing wars. There is no justification
in comparing one conflict from the other. I
am sure the men who fight these wars will
agree with me that any war there are no real
winners. There are only victors who by the
blood of the soldiers who lost their lives can
we claim a victory. But what about that soldier
who's blood we are speaking? Don't forget the
other soldier who's blood was shed. It is a
sad fact that there are no winners when both
sides record the deaths of the men involved in
any war. There are no winners just loosers
and it is always sad to see the list of our
dead in the news every day.
I have always tried to keep from telling war
experiences to the members of my family. It
has been many years and I remember clearly
many of my experiences in Korea. I wouldn't
consider them any more dangerous than my
buddies. If you want to know how I feel about
danger in Korea let me explain. I have always
said that anyone and I mean anyone who set foot
on that peninsula during those three years was
in "DANGER" and you didn't have to be on a
front line position. Korera was a hostile land
with it's terrain and it's crazy weather. Not
to mention a land so far back in time It was
difficult to survive for our men who lived
in the twentieth century and were thrust into
the past. Korea at the time had no paved roads
no and electric was sparce and the people who
lived in the small villages farmed. Not much
in the way of what we were used to back home.
I am glad that I served and made it home safe.
What I am not happy about is the guys that we
left behind. I will never forget them until
the day we meet again I am sure of that.

Comments: Is there anyone who remembers or took part in the assault on Star Hill which was in front of outpost Harry, sometime during July or August 1952. I believe this was an all volunteer ranger unit organized only from men in the 32nd regiment. I believe they were called Dodd's rangers and the time that was required was 6 weeks in this outfit, and you were then elligible for rotation home(if you survived). This assault took place around 12-1 p.m. and involved about 2 squads from this unit who made the assault, which was supported by artillery and men who were on outpost Harry. The outcome of this assault unfortunately resulted in the rangers having been hit with very heavy Chinese mortor, artillery and small arms fire to withdraw. I witnessed this event. If anyone took part in this event or has knowledge of this outfit, would like to hear from you.
