Comments: First greetings to all,
My wifes father Joseph H. Clark jr. who was only a boy when he first ran away from home in 1946 to join the Army. He was under age at the time made it through basic and advanced Infantry training when his mother caught up to him. She made him come home, due to her family having had heavy losses during WWI and WWII. As soon as he could sign up on his own he ran down to recruiter in early 1948 and re-enlisted. He was soon in Japan in 1949 and was part of the initial group to go over to Korea in 1950. He wound up in the 32d Infantry regiment part of the 7th Division. Buy the time he was just 20 years old on April 28, 1951 when he was wounded so severely that he was evaquated to comabt aid station right behind front lines and given a toe tag as he was not expected to live. I believe due to his youth and hard physical conditioning, good ole US Army, that along with his fighing spirit he did survive. He was eventually evaquated to Japan and stateside where he spent the better part of the next four years and numerous surgeries trying to piece his life together. I eventually ordered his copy of his 201 file and was able to make a really good shadow box for my wife Joes daughter. SInce I'm retired military I understand much of the machinations of the US Army and USAF as I spent many years in both. I would like to know if anyone on this site either knew Joe Clark and or might know anything about him or maybe have pictures, what a kudo that would be. Alas Joe died in 1985 so Im doing this to remember him and if we rememebr someone they truly are not gone. Anything is and would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: 2Lt Herbert Marshburn of the 32nd Infantry was killed providing a delaying action at Chosin Reservoir on 3 Dec 1950. His father Col Herbert Marshburn was a career Army man (and fellow West Point graduate). His mother Portia's grandfather, H.R. Wagar, started the first lumber company in Washington County, Alabama. The Wagar family, and later the Marshburns, after Portia's marriage, maintained land and interests in Washington County for the rest of their lives. Col and Mrs Marshburn's official home of record was Washington, DC, and it is only recently, while researching our local war KIA/MIA/POWs that 2Lt Marshburn's actions at Chosin have come to our attention.
Thank you, 2Lt Marshburn, and all of the brave men of the 32nd, for your service, and your sacrifice.

Comments: I am looking for information, photos, etc. about the 32nd Buccaneer Regiment which served in the central front line in Korea. Much of my father's records, Cecil Perry, were lost in the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. He is now being denied much of his benefits at the Veterans Hospital in Beckley, WV because we are unable to prove his service-related disabilities to 70%. He is in need of long-term care and he would prefer it in the VA Hospital vs. a nursing home. He earned the bronze star and a purple heart and wrote a check to his country, signed with his life. His country has let him down. He suffered shell shock and, even now, displays PTSD issues; has circulation issues with his hands and feet due to the exposure in Korea; has been legally blind for the last 40 years due to toxiplasmosis that he contracted from drinking the water and milk in Korea. He was also injured in his abdomen, but we really don't truly know what happened because he would never talk about it. If anyone know anything about Dad, we would love to know so that we can battle for this heroic soldier.

Comments: I'D LIKE TO THANK MY STEPDAD FOR HIS SERVICE, AND ALL OUR OTHER SERVICE MEN
and WOMEN, AND RECOGNIZE HIM ON THIS MEMORIAL WEBSITE. MY STEPDAD, RET.
MSGT RAY D VICK, MANAGED THE SNACK BAR and BOWLING ALLEYS WHILE IN KING
COMPANY NEAR K-14 and SEOUL. HE ALSO PAINTED KING CO ON SIDE OF ROCK
OVERLOOKING HILL and MADE SIGN IN FRONT OF CO. ORDERLY ROOM and INSIDE OF NCO
MESS HALL. HE ALWAYS MADE IT FUN, EVEN IN WARTIME.
HE SAYS IT WAS SNOW TIME DURING HIS FIRST TOUR WITH THE MARINES WHEN IT GOT
DOWN TO -50 DEGREES BELOW ZERO! HE WAS WOUNDED IN ACTION WHEN A
GRENADE EXPLODED NEAR HIS HEAD CAUSING HIM TO LOSE PARTIAL HEARING. HE
ALSO SUFFERED FROM FROSTBITE, WOUNDED HAND, MALARIA, and PNEUMONIA. A
VETERAN OF WWII, HE SAW ACTION IN THE PACIFIC THEATER, THEN WAS RECALLED TO
ACTIVE DUTY WITH C-COMPANY THE LOCAL MARINE RESERVE UNIT FROM NASHVILLE,
TN. AFTER THAT HE MUST HAVE JOINED UP WITH ARMY AS AN INFANTRYMAN. Ray was
awarded over 70 medals including the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster.
I HAVE MANY PICTURES OF HIM THROUGHOUT HIS MANY TOURS OF DUTY. ONE
PICTURE HAS NAMES OF ALL HIS KING COMPANY REGIMENT ON IT. THEY INCLUDE:
LT. MARTIN, PETTY, DESJARDINE, STINSMAN, RICHESON, JENNINGS, BERTINE, JONES
J.F., EDWARDS, HINGLE, TRELLIS, DAVISON, COLEBECK, ANGER, HICKS, SCHUETTE,
CUNNINGHAM, STUART, LANGLEY, WARE, VICK, PIMENTAL, WINGFIELD, VIEGEL,
CARUSO, DAVIS, BOGGS, FUSCO. ALSO A SOLO PIC OF 1ST SGT MYERS
THE PHOTO IS CLEAR AND LISTS THESE SOLDIERS IN ORDER.
RAY VICK PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 1ST, 2013 AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN
THESE PICTURES! HE ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT HE HAD LIVED HIS LIFE TO THE FULLEST,
AND HAD JOINED THE MILITARY IN ORDER TO TRAVEL THE WORLD. HE ALSO SAID HE'D
EXPERIENCED MORE IN HIS LIFETIME THAN MOST MEN WOULD HAVE IN THREE
LIFETIMES. I MISS HIM EVERYDAY. IF I CAN SHARE THESE PHOTOS, PLEASE TELL ME
WHERE TO POST THEM FOR FELLOW SOLDIERS TO SEE?
GOD BLESS OUR SOLDIERS and KEEP THEM SAFE

Comments: My father was a medic assigned to the 32nd Infantry Regiment,
although I do not know which company he was with. As part of
the 31st RCT (Task Force MacLean) he was involved in the
fighting in the mountainous terrain to the east of Chosin
Reservoir in late November, 1950. During the final day of the
battle, he led a group of survivors across the frozen laken to
the safety of the Marine lines near Hagaru-ri. My father has
passed away and is buried at the national cemetary at Ft. Sam
Houston, Texas. I would like to speak with anyone who served
with my father in Korea.
