Comments: My uncle, James Bleier, had his right leg from knee down blown off while attempting to take Jane Mansfield Hill on 10/23/52. As he was pulling himself down the hill he came across another wounded GI that could not move. He grabbed the GI's collar and procided to rotate between pulling him and himself down the hill where an armored tank truck discovered them and took them to safety. Of the 50 guys in the attempt, they were the only ones to servive. He was awarded the brozne star for his efforts.
I have been trying to gather information on him to put in a scrapbook for the family and have been unable to locate Jane Mansfield Hill, does anyone know anything about it?

He died in 1982 before we could have real conversations about the war. He brought back momentos but those were lost over the years. We've gone to the army records center in St. Louis and found that ALL of his records were lost in a tragic high-rise fire there in 1972.

He was a drummer in a family band and may have played drums with some folks while in the service.

This incident has caused my father great grief over the years and we would like to put closure to this. I'm sure many of you understand the mental anguish that something like this could cause to a young soldier that was drafted in, and the impact it can have on the rest of his life.

We are having great difficulty finding any information on this incident. No records, no family, etc. If you have any information or know anything about this please respond. I would greatly appreciate it.

I am looking for any information I can find about my father's brother.
His name was Richard D. Collage. He was killed in action in Korea. His
remains were never recovered. I have visited the National Cemetery of
the Pacific in Hawaii.

His name is listed among Korean War KIA's. The marker indicates he
was a member of the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. I
believe he volunteered for duty in Korea while he was serving with the
Berlin Brigade in Germany.

I do not know the date or location of his death. I would appreciate any
information I could get about this regiment or how to conduct further
research.

I'm currently researching his "Silver Star" medal he was to have received for his bravery on Pork Chop Hill. My Dad spoke a lot about Kentucky. I also know he used to chase after awols too. He saw a lot of action but only spoke of some silly events. I only know of a couple of horrible events since he wouldn't speak of them. I am quite ill too. I'm loaded w/tumors, I'm now 51. I won't rest until I get my Father's "Silver Star" for him. He would have never said his commanding officer put in for it if it wasn't true. From what I understand my Dad scouted "the hill" for the other soldiers...my Dad was a Sgt. I believe he was in the 32nd infantry (??) I don't have all the info right at hand now...I just happened upon this site. At this very moment I'm looking at a photo of my Dad in is Army uniform. My Dad was a very dark haired and handsome italian. He was until the day he died. I believe all the memories finally got to him and he stopped taking important medication and killed himself due to this "forgotten war." I know his best friend was blown to bits right by my Dad's side by a mortar. My Dad has a "sharp shooter" medal, the "bronze star", the "purple heart" and other medals.... He went to camp Breckinridge (forgive my spelling).... My Dad would only (usually) tell me just some funny stories of cutting a can so when a fellow soldier went to pee in his sleeping bag, he got all wet...my Dad was a joker and had a great sense of humor. He was and always will be my Hero! I'll submit futher info as soon as can...more on his "outfit, etc.". I probably won't live all that long myself, but I can't go until I get my Dad's "Silver Star" that is justly his. I didn't even know he had the other medals until I researched with a Senator's office here in Rhode Island. They said there was a fire in 1973 and many of my Father's records were burned. I "MUST" get the info regarding this medal (Silver Star) or I will not rest even in my death. Both my Parents to me are hero's. My Mom had five different cancer's and died in my arms after 3 1/2 days in hospice. My dad just dropped dead in our kitchen. I found him to late to revive him (I had some medical training) and knew he would be brain dead....that was not my Father. My Dad and his brother and their father owned greenhouses...they grew wholesale flowers to sell. My Dad joined the Army to get away from his Father. My Father ended out to be a cripple due to his injuries of the Korean Conflict and couldn't live like that.....GOD BLESS YOU ALL....I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Keywords: My Dad's name is Carmine Iannitti. I believe he was called "Jessie James" as a nickname. I'm not too sure of the unit...will do more research. My Dad was in the battle of Pork Chop Hill. He has numerous medals of which I just found out about.
