Comments: My dad, Donald Thaxton, originally from Algiers, LA, was in Korea in 1950. He was a lifer in the Army, an avid fisher and hunter, and retired in WA State in 1970 or so, still in good health and as funny, sly and good hearted as ever. He has not disclosed lots about his war times, although he acquired silver stars, bronze stars, purple hearts, etc. He has had little or no contact with the guys from that time period, mostly because we were going all over the world and finally settled in the great northwest....a long way from where he started out. I don't believe he realized the notoriety of kunu-ri untill recent years. He would very much like to find his friend Donald Calhoun, who stood in his wedding to my mom and probably other guys that maybe were just not quite as close. Please email me at Lorene39@hotmail.com with any info since dad isn't into the internet. I know we have an album of pictures that I will see about getting loading to the internet somehow.

It was terrible while I was there but looking back on the experience I wouldn't trade it for anything. I think back on the mansoon season and the freezing winters and think how bad the war veterans must have had it. It is a shame how quickly people forget what sacrifices have been laid down for all of the citizens of this great nation. Just remember that you are not forgotten by every one. Comments: My Father, Jessie E. Lively, joined the Army in 1947. He took Airborne training at Ft. Benning in 1948. He went to Korea in late 1950 and was wounded in a place called Kunuri on November 27th 1950. He is dead now and He never would tell me what happened to him. I remember when I was a child sometimes I would hear my Mother consoling him after a nightmare after which He would wake up screaming. She said that at night even up until his death in 1994, He would still see and hear His friends dying in his sleep. People do not realize how much these Men suffered and the price that they continue to pay for our freedom. When we wake up from a good night's sleep that is normal for us we should take the time and thank someone who doesn't have that luxury. I would like to find out about my Father. I am ashamed of how this Country has forgotten about our Korean War Veterans. Schools hardly teach anything on it. But I can assure you Veterans if any read this, That I will never forget what great men like you and my Father did for me. I will not forget when I wake iin the morning that you may not have slept. Thank You and God Bless You.

Comments: I am the great-nephew of Capt Joseph Dean Cox from Tampa, Florida. I'm trying to do some research on him for my grandmother, his youngest sister, Josephine. Her health is deteriorating and we are seeking information as to his final fate. We have three conflicting stories as to what happened to him. The first account came from a turncoat in a North Korean prison. He stated the Uncle JD was taken from his cell for interrogation and never brought back. The second account came from a soldier that I've only heard identified as "Andy." He stated that Uncle JD had been cut off from his unit and refused to retreat without his soldiers. He returned to the battle and was not heard from again. The third account came from a driver who was driving his jeep with Uncle JD in the passenger side. He stated that he saw Uncle JD get shot and was killed instantly. He is officially listed as missing presumed dead by the Army. No remains have ever been recovered. Anyone who can possibly help us, please email me with any information you may have concerning Capt Cox. Thank You.

Camp Beaver, mid 1960's, originally home to the 2d Engineer Battalion (Const.), 2d Infantry Division and later the home of the 8th Engineer Battalion, lst Cavalry Division. When the BN made their camp near Munsan, they named it in honor of Sgt Jefferson Beaver. Apparently the name was never officialy recognized.
Camp Beaver, South Korea and "Beaver's Lodge" at Camp Radcliff, Vietnam connects the two US Army engineer units and two wars with that of my great-uncle, E-5, Jefferson Beaver,16007543, MOS 03729. of Dunn County, Wisconsin. Sgt Beaver was killed in action in the Republic of Korea on 2 September 1950.
I have a photograph of Jefferson Beaver with a Sgt Ross D. Briscoe, another photo of Jefferson with three other young men standing around/on an airplane in a hanger. I do not know where these photos were taken.
I also have another photo or two with unknown individuals in what looks like an Army camp in Korea. I would love to identify these indviduals and where the photos were taken.
If anyone has any information they can provide regarding Camp Beaver, Jefferson Beaver or those he served with, please contact me.

Comments: I am looking for any information regarding my Grandfather, James Edward Stevens.
I am told he died as a POW in Korea. No unit # or camp #. At the time, my mother was 6 years old and my 3 uncles slightly older. So I guess he was in Korea somewhere between 1946-1951.
I also heard he constantly wrote letters to my Granmother, Ruby and his sister Virginia (Virgie).
Any direction, recollection or information would be appreciated.
Thanks
