Comments: My dad left Ft. Lawton Washington in 1951 From Ft Jay NY It looks like he was assigned to the 36 something 194TH Combat Engineers. For 1 year 3mounths and 21 days well in Korea. He was in the Army from March 13 1951 to Feb.2 1954. Basic training was at Ft. Cachet Virginia for 16 weeks E-mail me I can tell u the metals he received. I just don't know were he severed in and what battles he was in. Help, Dad passed away 10 years ago. I never knew him that well. And he never talked about his time in Korea. The info that I have is from a letter I found written by his own hand in 1969. This is from his son Bill Ormsby Jr. I'm 55 and a Navy Veteran. Help from any of the guys still alive who may have know him. I need to know more before I pass away. Thank you and God bless all our Vets,
.

At the time I was a squad leader in Co, B, Later I was transferred to HQ as commo chief. I rotated out of Korea exactly one year to the day from when I got there. I would love to hear from any of my friends from those days.

Comments: We have just returned from a wonderful reunion of Korean War Veterans that was held from Oct 3rd thru the 6th in Laughlin, Nevada which is 95 miles west of Las Vegas. Our group was small, about a dozen couples, but we joined in with a large group of others, over 300 from all over the U.S.A.-We found out that we did not need a ton of people to have a good time as we blended in with the other groups. Most of all, we learned that we should not have to wait another 50 or so years to do this again, so guess what? Yep, thats right. We want to do it again next year. Anybody care to join us. It will be around the same time next year. The only difference is that we will all be a year older(only in age). Want to come?? E-mail, call, or write me. I can guaranty that you will receive an answer.

Comments: I am the sole surviving son of my father killed in action in South Korea on May 4, 1951, which happens to be my birthdate. His unit in Korea was 194th Engineer Battalion. His rank was PFC when he died. His name was Jewel Clark. Born in Waelder, Texas. There is a military gravemarker at the burial site, but there is some skepticism about his remains being there. I am aware any number of things can account for that with none of them being out of the ordinary, but what troubles me is I have not been able to find any official records of his death with the government except the the gravestone. Please if you know of any way I can obtain any information about my father or for what accounts for appears to be a cruel mystery, I would be eternally grateful. Even if you have no personal documents, photos or info you may share with me, I would be eternally grateful if you could direct me to the government agencies that could answer some of my lifelong questions about my father. I feel as if some sick joke has been played on me all my life because from what I can gleen from family members he was killed on my birthday when returning to the states to marry my mother. I was born May 4, 1951. His sister has recently passed away would you believe it on May 4, !992. I don't mean to sound like a sob case, but I have to admit over the course of the last 54 years of my life, these circumstances have remained at the forefront in my mind. I would appreciate any small thing anyone can do to help a man ignorant of some of the most basic things about his father become a realization. Sincerely

I was one of the guardsmen from Oak Ridge, TN.
The unit was activated on Aug 19, 1950 and shipped to Ft Lewis for training. I believe that we shipped out of Ft Lawton on Jan 6, 1951 and arrived in Pusan sometime in early Feb. Mostly roads and bridges on the way to Kumwah and surrounding area. to the bet of my memory we always seemed to be operating in platoon or squad units, therefor I don't remember to much of the other companies. Some of the original boys (most were in the teen to early twenties) re-uped, a few settled
in Oak Ridge. Not much contact with any of the original group. It was a n interesting time and from what I have read things changed afer most of us rotated out in December 51.

Comments: 36th Engineer (C) Group HQ and HQ - Looking for anyone who served in Korea during the Korean the conflict affiliated with the HQ and HQ Company 36th Engineer Group - IX Corps Engineers. We were located during 1953 below the Iron Triangle between and below Chorwan and Kumhwa near a shelled out town named Tae-de-gul. Interested in the whereabouts and status of members who served in this outfit at that time and would like to get in touch with any veterans to exchange views and recollections. We were located alongside Route 22 east of MSR-3 near Tae-de-gul, which meant Little River Bridge. There was also a small stream nearby also not far from 44th MASH and a small water reservoir. Some of our working quarters were bunkers in a small hill. Affiliated Units – The 11th, 74th, 194th, 378th Engineer Battalions – 76th Dump Truck Company – 86th Engineer Searchlight Company – 323rd Engineer Company Light – 1437th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company.

Comments: Responding to entry from son of Anthony DiNapoli dated 1998. I remember notice of reunion that never happened. Unless you are an imposter, you must be my all-time favorite Field Wireman from Brooklyn. Tony, you served in my section for the final few months of my tour. Hope you remember me and we can possibly correspond. I am using my son-in-laws email address.
