Comments: Hello,

I would love to hear from anyone who might have served with my late, wonderful grandfather. He never really spoke of his time in Korea before he passed, and understandably so, but I would like to record, preserve, and honor his time in service. Per his DD214, he served from 2/52-12/53 in the Army with H/S Co 11th Engineer C Bn APO 301 as a heavy equipment engineer (cranes specialty from what his service school record shows). He was released from active duty as a Sgt (T). His name is Howard E. Moore, he stood about 6 foot 4 inches, hailed from Missouri, had generous ears, blue eyes, strawberry blond hair, and was the best man I've ever known.

I have a copy of a Christmas Day program, which is undated, but looks to be while the Korean War was still ongoing there is a heading under Battle Honors that reads: KOREA (7, To Date) that leads me to believe that. The program lists LtCol Hazel L Byrd as the CO at the time. I also have a couple of pictures I'd be happy to scan and send along.

If you have any stories, clippings, or photos you'd be willing to share, I'd be so grateful to add them to his records.

Thank you so much for your time,
Christine Langager

Comments: Hi to all the Korean Vets.
I am looking for the two medics that treated my wound above my right eye. I was wounded under heavy mortar fire while rescuing James Peterson and two other men from a bunker on the left side just across the Ye song River western front. was so busy I never had a chance to get to battalion Head Quarters.

God Bless!

Comments: I was wondering if the two medics that dressed my wound i recieved in 1953 while i rescued James Peterson and two others from the buncker on the left side across the Yesong River in western North Korea. I was wounded above my right eye, and they said if it would have been lower i would have lost my eye.A tank company was moveing back, and i was to pick them up at 15:00 hrs. but did not get back from the company battalion until 18:00 hrs. so by the time we got back to Charlie Co. it was 21:00 hrs.Our company was north of Uijongbu just across the 38 parallel. Iwas the rank of corperal at the time.

Keywords: Its so long ago I can,t remember names except James Peterson he was from Dodge ,ND. He died from a work related accident on the job. His wife later moved to Bismark,ND.

Comments: Looking through an email from Lt. Art Blair's in June of 2011, Art Blair mentioned that my father, Platoon Sergeant M J Pitts, was awarded a Bronze Star in 1950 for his service in the Korean War. Blair saw to it that my father got this medal.

How would I get that verified, as it does not seem that the Army keeps a list of Bronze Star recipients?

Any insights or sources/contacts to pursue would be appreciated. Thanks. Duane Pitts
