Comments: Seeking to locate more information on 73rd Engineer Combat Battalion, 10th Corps, Company B that actually served in Korea from 1951-1952. My father, SFC(T) Harold Hauffe, served on foreign soil beginning Sept 16, 1951 with initial training at Ete Jima, Japan, in the Engineer School, combat unit. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal but has never talked about this award and why it was awarded. For the brief time he served overseas (honorably discharged Jan 1953) he enjoyed the company of so many fine soldiers. He's lost track of every contact/friendship he had. He was drafted in Feb 1951 and (I believe) was in boot camp somewhere in the south---Mississippi maybe? Loved training with the boys there! Would enjoy hearing from any veteran who served in 73rd Engineer Battalion, 10th Corps, Company B while in Korea from Sept '51 to 1952 or in boot camp before shipping out overseas. As my father is in declining health, I am trying to locate anyone who might have been a buddy. My dad really enjoyed his time in the Army--especially the friendships he'd developed.

Comments: Hello,
My father was 1st-Class Sgt. Joseph Thomas Krieger
(1932-2003). He was born and raised in New Albany,
Indiana. In 1948, he joined the U. S. Army at age
16, and took his basic training at Ft. Knox,
Kentucky. He spent a little over 26 years in the U.
S. Army and retired in 1973 at White Sands Missile
Range, New Mexico. According to an outline which he
wrote out before his death in 2003, he listed that he
served in Korea from July of 1950 to November of
1951. I have some photos of him when he served in
Korea. There is a possibility that he was a staff
Sgt. during his time in Korea, but I'm not for sure.
An insignia on his army uniform appears to show 73rd
Armored Division. He was wounded and returned to the
United States. I would like to confirm if the 73rd
was the division which he served in. I can send
copies of photos as attachments if this would assist
anyone that may have known him. I hope that someone
can help. Would enjoy hearing from someone.
Thank you,
Anna Walker
