Comments: Hitchcock is a small town 273 miles South of Dallas on I45 South and the Santa Fe Railway. I enlisted in the Army January 1949 from the State of Illinois after spending 2 years in the U.S. Merchant Marine, 6 years in the Army and retired from Rockwell International with 25 years in the Space program. I gained an extra year in the Army, thanks to President Truman, I didn't vote for him but he was my President and my Commander in Chief. I owe him that respect while the "Cassions Go Rolling Along".
Keywords: I must be the last surviving member of Service Battery assigned to the 49th Field Artillery Battalion of the 7th Inf. Div. We followed the 17th Infantry Regiment around giving Artillery support. This was from Sept. 1950 until I left the "Land of the Morning Calm" in October 1951. Do you remember seeing the Yalu River??

Comments: My Dad was a Captain and CO of A Battery when it was at Camp Younghans and at Camp Chitose. He was promoted to Major and became the Bn. exec when LC "Duke" Fox became the Bn Co at Camp Whittington. He was always very proud of the 29th.
I lived at Camp Younghans and Camp Chitose. A Battery went to Camp Chitose in the summer of 1950, right after the Korean War started.
