Comments: Our B-29 crew Air Craft Commander was Bill Nash
flew 40 combat missions between June and December 19, 1951.
Our Crew was one of 15 crews that went over together. Ten of the crews went to Okinawa and we were one of the five stationed at Yakota Japan.
Of the 15 crews that went over together we were one of only 5 crews to survive and return home in late December...Thanks to General Hoyt Vandenberg.
We were one of the last to fly daylight missions in 1951. The Okinawa bunch were almost wiped out on October 23 which was nicknamed black Tuesday.
We went up the next day Wednesday the 24th were leading an element when our slot man was shot down and they only got the secondary spar in our right wing, but we managed to make it back to Yokota.
After all we went through together you would think that we might keep in touch...
It would be nice to hear from our old friends.

My heartfelt thanks go out to Max Nelson and Bill Beck for all of the info they provided me on Uncle Luke and the events of 24 Oct '51. God bless you both and all the Korean War vets.
Your sacrifices won't be forgotten as long as I have a voice. Too much for me to keep in, having lost an uncle before I had a chance to know him, and my dad, now deceased, served there too, USAF B-26 radio operator.
