Comments: I would like to talk with any surviving AF members (or their families)that knew the crew of B-29A Tail #44-86343, possibly named "Wolf Pack". The son of 1LT Ted G. Royer, Ron Royer of Houston, was active for a while in reunions, I would really like to talk to him or his family. If anyone has photos or memorabilia that shows the crew members, I would like a copy. I am specifically interested in A1C Jimmie Rowland Hobday,of Cortez, CO, born in Longmont, CO. on 26 May 32. He was my dad, I was born while he was in HS, my mother promised to marry him when he turned 17, she did not, he joined the AF, may not have told his buddies or his family. But listed her to be notified in case of death, I remember her receiving the MIA letter from the AF in 52. Guessed a lot over the years, but did not find out a lot of info till I cleaned out her nursing home closet, (I am 61), found a hidden bundle, his HS photo and the posted crew photo, with Jimmie's listing of the crew and duty positions on the backside, he lists himself as tail gunner. I am writing a book with Jimmie as one of the central figures and would like info on him and the missions and some of the crew if possible. I would like to know more about my real dad.
You may contact me directly at ramblinsarge@hotmail.com

Comments: The 307th and its three squadrons deployed to England during July to November 1948.
The three Squadrons went to:-
370th -Red-RAF Marham.
371st-green-RAF Marham.
372nd -Blue -RAF Waddington.
At this time the 307th was not carrying a Tail code on its B-29,s but did carry the "four petalled Dogwood bloom on a blue shield.
During Feb-May 1949 the 307th made a second deployment and this time the 370th to RAF Marham
and the 371st and 372nd to RAF Lakenheath.
The B-29,s now carried a " Hollow arrow Head "
on their tails .this, I believe, was an old 8th Air Force marking although I think the Group was now assigned to the 15th AF.
I am researching material details of the deployments and also to borrow any pictures / photographs for a book I am currently working on
which ie titled; B-29/B-50 Deploymentsto England during the Cold War.1946-1953.
Any pictures /photos on loan will be returned to the rightful owner after I have noted details for my artwork.
Please can someone also assist me with the 371st and 372nd Bomb Squadron Insignia as it would appear that the B-29,s carried this on the port nose sides.
I will be extremely grateful for any kind help.
Sincerely,
Robbie Robinson.

Comments: B-29 Pilot and Crew

My dad and 10 of his 11 man crew were KIA 9/13/52 over the Suiho Electric Plant (Yalu River, North Korea). They were flying out of Kadena, Okinawa with the 371 Bm Sq, 19 Bm Wing. The crew list follows: Theodore (Ted) G. Royer - AC, James A. Lowe, Jr - Pilot, Nelson M. Brown - FE, Fred E. Bloesch - NG, Henry B. Kelly - Radar, Spiro J Peters - Radar, William K. Phillis - BM, James O. Trosclair - Radio, Jimmie R. Hobday - Gun, James W. Kelly - Gun, James R. LeBaron - Gun, Fred Parker, Jr - Gun,

One of the crew, as I recall, was repatriated at some time thereafter. I'm unable to recall which crewmember was returned. Anyone with any comments or thoughts may feel free to send a message. Any recollections of these mem would be appreciated.

Ron
