Comments: I am seeking photos of the 371st Bomber Squadron (307th Bomber Group) from Kadena, Okinawa circa 1951.
I am turning my late father's memoirs into a book about his experiences as a gunner in B-29, and his experiences as a POW in North Korea and China.
He was shot down by Russian-piloted MIG-15s on April 12, 1951, and released from Camp 2 on September 4, 1953.
If anyone has any information about this bomber squadron, and specifically, the April 12th mission to bomb the railway bridge at Sinuiju that involved the 19th BG, 307th BG and the 98th BG.
Thank you,
Dan King

Comments: The crew was listed as MIA until Parker was released and made his report, status changed to KIA Feb 53. I am writing a book, using the tail gunner, A1C Jimmie Rowland Hobday, AF#17329984, as one of the two central figures in the story. I am his son, born while he was still in high school and underage. When he turned 17, he tried to get my mother (married) to divorce her husband, as she had promised and marry him. When she refused, his grades dropped from A's to C's and his family began to have arguments with him. That is when he joined the AF. I have known part of the story all of my life, and was treated as a "little bastard, you will always be a failure" by my 'step dad' who my mother had told that he was my father, but he found out about Jimmie. I doubt if Jimmie every talked about this to his friends as he was rather bitter about the whole thing. Especially when he used to come over and play with me when I was a baby and we still lived in Cortez, CO where he had gone to HS. I would like to ask just a few questions to any surviving members of the Bmb Wg and SQ that might have known Jimmie or other members of the flt crew. And I would like to talk to any family members that were related to the crew, just for a few moments.

Comments: My father flew with the 307th Bomb Wing and was stationed at Kadena AFB in Okanowa. On a bombing mission over Korea in 1951 they had just emptied the bomb doors when a non-directional rocket was shot into the bomb doors. It blew the B-29 in half. My dad survived and the entire crew was killed. I'm looking for anyone who might have information on this mission or particular sortie. Even if you could direct me to a place where I can get more information.

Comments: My father was a radio operator with the 307/7th but was a power forward with the USAF basketball team from 1951 to 1953. This kept him stateside so he taught survival to SAC bomber radio crewman from the training school in Stead AFB. Unfortately, I cannot locate anything about the base activities from the Korean War operations. I did see two National Geographic magazines from the time period discussing the survival school and Gen Lemay. I still believe there was a photo of my father and several other "operators" standing in the snow under the shelter of a large pine tree. I would like to find any digital photos of Stead and the schools from the Korean War days or if anyone played ball with my father.
