Comments: I'm looking for information regarding LST 975 Korean War service. My father was on this ship from 1951 to 1954. He received two battle stars and I'm wondering if anyone knows what battles this ship was in other than Inchon. My dad's name was Gayle G. Blackburn. He passed away in 2018 and I didn't have a chance to ask him. He like so many others did not talk much about the Korean War.

Comments: While in Vung Tau, Republic of South Vietnam in Feb/Mar 1972, the Hector Foundry cast two 750 pound steel anchors for this ship. The other shops aboard hector also did quite a bit of repairs, upgrades and special work on this ship. One thing we did NOT do was get rid of a whole bunch of rats that were also aboard it. I am trying to find out if those two anchors are still on board the ship as well.

Comments: The 975 became the Vietnamese HQ-500. It was one of
the ships we maintained in the Naval Shipyard in
Saigon when I was there in 70-71. I posted a group of
photos taken in 1945 at the commissioning of LST 975
