He died on August 10, 1950 near the vicinity of Naktong River, Korea. He was initally reported as MIA then later his body was found and identified. The information I have is from papers sent to my grandparents by the government. I have seen a letter addressed to he and his wife but have no proof he was married. I would love to see if I can find out if anyone out there may have served in teh same unit as my father. His name is Eloy Gallegos and he was in Korea from june50-june51.

Comments: Don needs any information possible that will help clarify his performance in Korea. His records were some of the many that were destroyed by fire.He was in Teajon on July 20 1950 and recalls a Hospital being blown up, and no one was able to get the wounded or dead out before it was bombed. He was wounded in a truck wreck while trying to avoid enemy road blocks. He was unable to get medical attention at the time and as many others did as well , Don had to wear the injury until he could be seen later at an Aid Station. We have been informed by other helpful Veterans, that he needs to find someone who was with him that may have copies of their records, to help reconstruct his records. Don is liable for several Medals but can not receive them until he has obtained some clarification from someone.
We have a copy of Special Orders where 37 Soldiers of the 34th Inf. Heavy Mortar Co were redirected to the 21st Inf. Heavy Mortar Co. on Sept. 1 1950. If you know of, or, are one of these men, please contact me at the email address above. If anyone remembers Don Legg, he needs your help.
Thanking you in advance,

Maybe it really was a nerve disease or something else. He did have some post tramatic stress syndrome because all us kids and my mother (Japanese), were beat up many times. We still loved our father regardless. suffered bruises because of it.
Keywords: Duane was only foot soldier left from this division because all others perished. He was stationed in Hachinohe just prior to that war in
1950-1951/52. I have pictures of some men in his platoon and all the US Army Base pictures stationed there at that time, in a Japanese Photo Album. Dad stayed alive in a rice paddy while the
enemy camped next to him for 3 days. One guy surrendered next to him and was shot.
