I shipped out for Korea in Nov 1951, Elmer left after I did. I don't know if he was attached to the 45th as a Combat Engineer or was assigned to one of the 45th's combat engineer battalions. Elmer died early this year from complications of treatment received in Korea and had blood transfusions at a MASH unit. The VA now thinks the blood had probably been contaminated. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the incident during which Elmer was wounded?

He would not discuss it in any capacity. Looking at the collection of service bars and a few medals I have in my possession, I became 'curious'.
I would like to talk with anyone that served with him. I have a few pictures of him with other comrades while in Korea, but there is no identification.
