Comments: I am doing some research to learn about my grandfather, James Meyer, who was KIA on June 14th, 1952 during a mission called Operation Counter. He was killed capturing Hill 191, which was part of the Outpost Erie hill complex. I don't know much about my grandfather other than his unfortunate and untimely death in the Korean conflict.
If anybody has any information about my grandfather or served with him, I would love to hear from you. ANY information would be greatly appreciated.
PFC Meyer served in the I Company, 3rd Battalion of the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division. Through my research I have found that his remains were never
identified so I am also in the proces of helping the Department of the Army identify his remains through DNA testing. I hope that works out so he can finally have a proper burial in Arlington. Thank you for
your time and hope you can lead me in the right direction.

Comments: I'm looking to help my uncle, Sgt. Ronald (Royce) Richards of Detroit MI, get reconnected with friends from the 180th Regiment. They've just got a computer and he's giving it a try.
He was a .30/.50 cal machine gunner as part of H company, but was assigned to other companies along the line. He was pretty much in country for the whole period and returned through LA. He is rather reserved about his experiences, but it still is very clear, and dear to him. I'd like to motivate him to go to a reunion and hope that hearing from someone who he can relate to might get him to return to a reunion. He's a great guy and I think would enjoy comparing notes with any of you. He saw pictures on Richard Reahard's website that were looking at his positions or seeing things the same way he saw them. I'm working to get some of his photos scanned to share with any of you. I'd appreciate any input. I'd start by forwarding some messages to him, and hopefully he'd start responding and sharing his memories.
Thanks,
John Henning

Historical records from the National Archives on the 180th Infantry Regiment show that the 1st Battalion was advancing thru the woods towards Bensheim when they came under fire from the visinity of Gros Hausen and they then called in for air and artillery support before moving in that night. Any information or photos of that event and their thoughts about the village would be preatly appreciated.

Comments: I am writing for the historical society of a small village in Germany who are looking for information or photos of the 180th Inf Reg's advance thru their village in late March, 1945.
This village has hosted 100's of Army Bandsmen who have performed in the area since 1970 and also to students from the US who traveled to Germany with their German Language classes. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
The village is named Einhausen, however at the time, there were two towns called Gros Hausen and Klein Hausen. Gros Hausen is mentioned in at least one book because the unit entered thru the Gros Hausen side and that is probably why it is mentioned.
Again any info or photos or another source of information on the 180th's advance thru this area would be greatly appreciated.

(v are cited for outstanding performance of duty and extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Tumyong-dong, Korea, during the period VX13 June to 15 June 1952. On 13 June, the battalion was assigned the mission of ^ seizing and holding a commanding terrain feature held by a large, well-entrenched cenemy "force which, in the preceding 48 hours, had hurled back two attacking Lfriendly battalions with heavy casualties. Striking swiftly behind a concentrated friendly artillery barrage, the battalion moved up the slope, fought its way into Qthe enemy trenches, and, in a bitter hand-to-hand struggle, drove the defenders \Ltfrom their positions. Acting quickly, the unit then consolidated its gains, pre--y ical, numerically superior enemy, successfully held their positions, and maintained the battalion perimeter. Throughout the day of 14 June, the. enemy
-j placed thousands of artillery rounds on the tactically important crest. As eve-
- ning approached, the barrage was increased in intensity and the personnel of the ^ ^battalion prepared to withstand a second hostile attack. Friendly mortar, artil-«^lery, and automatic-weapons fire was directed with great accuracy on every con- .
ceivable enemy assembly point, and by morning stunned groups of hostile troops /*were observed moving northward, leaving the battered friendly force in possession of its objective. Comments: I am the son of S/SGT James W. Sentell. He does not say much about the Korean War to my Brother or I. However, when aroung other Veterans he opens up. I have heard stories from others of acts of valor and heroism taken upon by my Father. However, I cannot find much documentation of battles he fought in. If anyone knows him or has historical data about Company F I would be thankful and honored to hear from you.
To all of you who served, THANK YOU, with all my heart.
