Found a mug |

John Harvey wrote on 2009-07-25 19:15:04.0
Comments: I found a mug at a yard sale today It says 37th Bomb Squadron (L) N/I Royal Bengals on one side with a tiger patch. On the Other side It reads K-9 and at the bottom Korea with a pic of an A26. The handle is a naked woman. Under the tiger emblem it looks like it says Dean & Pat, but that part is quite faded. Does anyone know about the history of these. K-9 was Pusan East, and the 37th was there in 1952 but thats all I've found so far

Comments: Note to sqdn mates of the 37th BS stationed in Korea during the early 1950s. My dad Carl A. Lindberg Sr. passed away in 2005. I'd like very much to hear from others that flew with him, or were dependant "kids" like myself that experienced life as a service brat. Please consider your own "personal oral history" for this web page and for your own family. The stories from this era are too important to loose. I myself still clearly remember Dad's home coming, his stories and gifts from the orient. They prompted my own TDY to Korea when in the USAF myself. Thank you!

Comments: Greetings. My name is Capt Chris DiNote, USAF. I assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth AFB, SD (the current home of the 34th and 37th Bomb Squadrons). I was stationed at Osan AB from 2001-2003, so the Korean War has become a particular interest for me.
I'm working on a research paper for a master's class, and I would like to write on the history of the T-Birds and the Tigers during the Korean War. I'm in the sources gathering and research stage, and any assistance would be welcome.

Looking for any information about my grandfather and his time in service |
 |

Monica Wiles wrote on 2005-10-31 00:00:00.0
Comments: I am curious to learn anything I can about my grandpa's time in Korea. His name was Marshall Wayne Miller, he would have come from Arkansas, and he served in something to do with communications. He never really talked much about his time there and only ever told a few stories that I remember as a child. He passed in the early 1990's from a brain tumor and before he had gotten extemely sick, he burned most of the things he had kept from Korea. I feel that he saw quite a bit of action just from the stories I do remember. Not really fighting, but being fired on or seeing others killed or shot and t he nightmares that he would have. He told about one night being sent out on repairs and taking a bullet to the ear and after having returned, the lines were downed again and the crew that was sent out to replace their's was lost and some were taken hostage and are MIA to this day as best we know--no bodies ever recovered.
Like I said, there are so many mysteries surrounding my grandfather and his time there that we would just like to have some info to be able to pass on to my kids and my younger cousins who never had a chance to know him. My grandmother doesn't share the things she remembers and we do not understand why. I don't want my grandpa's sacrifices to just be tossed away with the years. Any help would be appreciated.

transfered to the states...florida,Eglin Field I think. I was a crew
chief on one of the B-26s.the number escapes me, and all my fotos were
destroyed.
We were sent tdy to K-8 Kunson for excerises just before the unit was
transfered. I was transfered to Yokota and was assinged to a B-29 as
asst, crew chief. Strangely I ended up on a ferry crew transporting
B-29s back to the staes and escorting the remaining B-26s.
They put a 500 gal fuel tank in the bomb bay and we did their
navigation. The planes were flown to China Lake cal. for weapons
testing, a truly waste of such great aircraft.
