Comments: To anyone attached to the USS Shea, my name is Steve Ploeckelmann, my father, Sid Ploeckelmann was stationed on the Shea during the early 50's and had attended many of the ships reunions, those of you who had also attended I'm sure knew him, he passed away twelve years ago as you would know, my mother Marilyn Ploeckelmann had attended a few reunions after his passing, well my mother resently passed and while cleaning out the estate I found multiple copies of a picture of the Shea that I know were intended for other shipmates, I am unable to locate any other venue but this to try to find some of those shipmates to pass these photos on to, so if someone wants to contact me I will send them the photos, you can contact me by my cell phone 651-338-6043.

Comments: My father served on the USS Shea DM-30 in WW II. The ship took hit by a suicide Japanese baka bomb on May 4, 1945. The vessel was runing a picket line on the Japan side of Okinawa. This took the vessel out of service for WWII [war ended in August]. 42 of the WWII crew attended the last reunion that is now held concurrently with the Koren crew reunion. The last reunion was in September of 2000.
