Comments: My oldest brother, Lt jg Paul Mejia, served on the USS DEVASTATOR as Engineer Officer serving in the Marshall Islands, Iwo Jima landings, Saipan and Okinawa. He told me that they also went in to clear mines for the USS MISSOURI for the Japanese surrender in Tokyo bay. He was separated from active duty at Camp Wallace in 1946, served in the Naval Reserves and reactivated in 1950 for the same duty serving with the Devastator in Korean Waters including Incheon landings. He didnt know at the time that I served in Korea as well. Contact me if you remember him and know more about his time at sea. Paul lived his post war life living in Houston, Texas. Before the wars he was originally from St Joseph, MO. Paul passed away in February of 1999.
