Comments: Looking for anyone assigned to my unit who can write a buddy letter in reference to an assault I experienced in late September or early October for VA compensation purposes. This happened shortly before we moved to Camp Greaves. Also looking for anyone who served on the DMZ during 1978 to 1979 who has experienced any unexplained diseases from possible exposure from the residue of Agent Orange. I currently have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease which could have been caused by Agent Orange.

I have been trying several years but keep getting denied. The burden of proof is now on me to prove that I was in South Korea, since my DD214 just states Overseas Returnee. Comments: I was stationed in South Korea from November 1969 until August 1970. In January 1970, we were sent to the DMZ for heavy weapons training - bazooka, machine guns, mortar, grenade launchers and others. We spent several days at an Army installation, sleeping in tents. While there, we fired mortars onto an island that I believe was called Fire Island, which may have been a name given simply because that is where we were directed to fire mortars. Our machine gun fire was directed at a large hill on which tires had been placed across the hillside. We fired bazookas at old tanks in another location. I can clearly remember how dead all of the foliage was. Even though it was Winter, I wondered why there was absolutely no evergreen foliage of any kind. It was only years later that I learned that Agent Orange had been used on the DMZ to eliminate foliage. It wasn't until 2000, I believe, that the authorities finally admitted that Agent Orange was used on the Korean DMZ. When still quite young, I was diagnosed with severe Peripheral Neuropathy in both legs and feet, with no known cause. A couple of years later, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I was not overweight by any means, and have taken medications from that time on to control it. Later I was diagnosed with heart failure due to ischemic heart disease. I had to have a stent implanted. I believe that these things were directly caused by the exposure to Agent Orange, however, my claim to the VA was denied, as they said I was not permanently stationed on the Korean DMZ. I have a friend who was stationed with me who has a non-curable cancer and has been granted 100% disability, based on his exposure to Agent Orange while in Korea. I don't understand how one person gets approved for Agent Orange exposure, while another doesn't. We did the same training at the same identical time. To my knowlege, Security Specialist or Security Police, as we were previously known, were the only USAF squadrons required to do the Heavy Weapons Training on the DMZ.
Keywords: United States Air Force Security Police Squadron, Osan AFB, The Republic of South Korean during 1969 and 1970. We were not Base Police. We were officially listed as Security Specialist, versus Security Police during that same period. I was among the first group to be required to take the new WAPS test for promotion. As a result of testing scores and evaluations, I was promoted to the rank of SSgt. in May 1970. At the time, I was told I was the youngest SSgt. in the 8th Air Force. I do not know how accurate that was, but was told that during the promotion ceremony in March, prior to the May actual promotion date. I was 21 when that promotion occurred.

Comments: Greetings,
My name is Natasha, and three years ago I was reunited with my lost half brother Jimmy. His sister Annie found my Father on LinkedIn and ended a 30+ year search for my Father. Even though this brought a lot of joy to my family, Annie has never been able to reunite with her biological father. She only has four pictures of her Dad, and no last name. What we do know is that he was stationed near Dungducheon, so I'm guessing he was stationed either at Camp Casey or Camp Hovey in 1977. Her mother lived in that area at the time. I have a picture of her father's two sons from a previous marriage. The only thing her mother could tell her was that his name was Bill. I'm wondering if that may be short for William. What makes this search even more difficult is that I don't have a last name, or a picture of him in uniform. The closest thing I have is a picture of him a blue shirt that looks kinda like a jersey with the word Bond on the upper left hand side, and a matching blue cap that looks like it has the North Star on it. Annie was able to bring my father and brother peace, and I really would like to do the same for her. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Comments: I was stationed in Camp Mosier from 02-10-1976 to 02-10-1977. I clearly remember going to Rodriguez range to conduct night fire with our ADA toys. We tore up the roadway from Mosier to Rodriguez range with our ADA war toys. It is nice to hear from fellow brothers who also served at Camp Mosier. Great memories, crazy PT at 0500 from Mosier gate to CRC from the back dirt road that was used by the ROK army. I remember the Katusas. I still have the yearly book of 1977 from CP Mosier. Take care my brothers and is an honor to have served with the best Infantry Division in the U.S. Army and the finest unit in Korea and that is the 2nd ID. God bless you all.

Comments: I worked at AFKN as a broadcaster from 1974 through late '75. I was in the
control room of AFKN TV when someone tried to kill Park Chung Hee. I saw a LOT of
historical stuff with my press pass. As an announcer, I did some voice over
recordings for TBS and KBC. Some schools used my news broadcasts to teach
English. I left in'75 with a strong desire to return to Korea to live after my
Army duty was complete. For my 21st birthday present to myself, I was standing on
the tarmac at Kimpo. I managed to get into English Teaching on a high government
level. Then they killed Park in '79. By 1980, a little-known civil war was in
full swing when General Chun Doo Whan took over. My wife and I fled the riots by
train and walked right into the Kwangju Massacre on 5-18-80, when our train
pulled into the city to stop for the night. When the killing started, we fled
amid bullets, 10,000 man fist fights with the police and the subsequent victory
of the rebels in kicking out the paratroopers sent by Gen. Chun. For 10 days they
created their own nation. We were fleeing along the rice paddy trails. We walked
out of Cholla Province and hitch hiked back to Seoul.40 years later, I got an
email from a Ha Yong Lee, who exactly described by situation in 1977 when he met
me as Mr. Don, his English teacher. I tried to respond, thinking this a wonderful
thing, as I have actively been looking for past students. I had once contacted
your forum as around AFKN they often sprayed AO and I'm a pretty sick fella these
days. He seems to have found me through this contact with you. I am told to
respond to message 90379
I simply hit reply before noticing the number. It had an email listed as robin
lee@hotmail.com, yet my outbox says it never went. So, please tell me how I
respond to message 90379. Thank you, Don Shively

Comments: OK. Have set up FaceBook page for those of us that served at Camp MacKenzie at any time. I'm attempting to put together the history of the camp from the time it opened to the time it closed. Need to know which unit you were with and when you were there. Photos of the camp are most welcome and needed. I will add unit crests as I find out who was there over the years.

Comments: Looking to communicate with anyone who was stationed at Camp MacKenzie in 1971 - 1972. I was with Bravo Company 1/17th (M). Tragically, all my photos of this camp were lost and there seems to be very little information on the web about it. I'm hoping to collect historical information and pictures of the place during 1971 - 1972. May even open a Facebook page dedicated to Camp MacKenzie one I have enough data.
I believe there was an armor unit there as well. Possibly the 4th Squadron 7th Cav?
