Comments: My father passed away a few years ago, and I am trying to gather information on his life. His name is John Lacey from Philadelphia PA and served in US Army from 1949 - 1953. He did his training at Fort Knox Ky and did some time as an MP before joining the 72nd med tank battalion. he served under Master Sgt Kouma in Korea between 1951 and 53 and received a bronze star. All of his medals and decorations were lost in a fire many years ago as was his records with the war dept. I would like to find whatever information I can and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Approx 6 mos ago, someone (forgot who) was looking for info on the history of this unit and also its previos designation, 717th tk bn. I was a member of both. Iwas in the 717 in 1946-7, and then returned to the same barracks in 1949, as a member of Co C 72nd tk bn. I shipped out of the unit 4 days after the Korean war started. I have some pictures of some of the older members. If interested, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Comments: My father, Michael Lee Ingraham, served in the 72d in 1950-51, and was there in November, 1950. I'd like to find out what company he served in and whether there is anyone out there who knew him. I believe he was E-5 by the time he left the Army. If any one out there knew him and would like to e-mail me, I'd love to hear from you.

I have read a great deal about the war, and especially enjoyed S.L.A. Marshall's "The River and the Gauntlet." I highly recommend it to those of you who have not read it.

I can never understand what you all went through in Korea, but I can offer you my most sincere and heartfelt thanks.

Comments: I'm currently stationed at A-co 1/72nd AR BN, I recently read some stuff about the Korean war that I never knew. I like the rise in public interest in a war so many forgot. I also am interested in the K I T club that Col. Pickett was speaking of.

To all the Korean War Veterans you have my deepest respect. This is horrible country for tanks to fight in and I can't imagine what it must have been like. If anyone has any stories they'd like to share from A-co, 1/72nd I'll compile them and give them to the CO for our Unit history. E-mail me what you can, especially combat stories as most of the soldiers would like to know about some of the things a-co first tank did during the war. I can also put them on our bulletin board for interested soldiers to read about.

That's all.

Comments: My brother, Harold, served with C Company, 72d Tank Battalion in the Korean War. He never really liked to talk about the war, so I am not sure in which actions he and the battalion were involved. I have a few of his ribbons and recognize the presidential unit citation. Would like to hear from anyone who may have known him or the unit. He had a friend "Bayshore"? from Pennsylvania? I appreciate the opportunity to use this page - Thanks.

Comments: I am writing on behalf of my father, Lester (Chuck) Johnson who served in Korea from 50-53 in the 72nd Tank Bat. 2nd Infantry Div.

He does not have access to a computer, so I am submitting this.

I'm sure that he would be more than happy to hear from his buddies from Korea. If you would like to drop me an email, or a letter, I would be thrilled to pass this onto him.

I was telling him about this website, and reading him some of the letters over the phone, and he said that he had the chills. My father tells many stories about his time in Korea.

Thank you.
