Comments: For over 22 years I have been compiling the history of the National Guard in the Mojave Desert, California. A vital part of that history was the creation of the 140th Tank Bn in 1949 in the desert communities, its activation/ performance during the Korean War, and post war reorganizations.

This effort has resulted in a book that has reached a point where it is fairly complete. I decided to put the book on a website so as many folks as possible can read it at no cost. Here is a link to my site:

Comments: My father in law SGT Floyd Austin was in B co, he was drafted in 1950 and went to Japan and then Korea. He was discharged in Sept 1952 at Camp Carson, CO. I am trying to find out some of the action he was involved in in Korea, all he would say was that they drove around shooting at mountains. He died memorial weekend 2013. I got his medals for him just before he died, they were the Occupation of Japan, United Nations and Korean Service with Bronze campaign star
