Comments: My father, Kenneth Lee Fransen, served in Korea from 1951-1952. The only thing he would say it that he was up north in the country and that he drove a jeep because no one knew how to drive a Willie Jeep. He never talked about what he did until his dying day. While going through his papers we have his discharge which shows he received 2 Korean War medals, but not what they are.. He left Korea, came home on leave to Illinois, and then reported to Ft Hood, Tx to finish his time in. I also have a copy of a certificate for the Order of the Golden Dragon he received on his trip back on the USNS Gen RL Howzett AP-134, Mar 8, 1952. The last item is a handpainted piece of canvas approximately 7x10" that has a tank and the number 73 behind it. We are thinking Dad was assigned to the 73rd but of course his records were destroyed in the St Louis fire so this is all we have to go on. I would like to find out what the medals were so we can get a set to put in with his flag memorial. I believe they were the US Army Korean Service medal and possibly the UN Korean Service medal. Can anyone help me in finding out this information. I can be reached at dkfransen@yahoo.com. Dad's service inspired me to enter the USAF in 1973 for my tour of duty. Thank you for both your service and your help. God Bless.

Comments: I recently obtained slides that belonged to my grandfather Paul Krueger. The keywords I listed were names of tanks, and other little notes on the slides. If you knew of him, I may have you in a picture! I just want to learn more about my grandfather and even share images.

Comments: My Dad was in the Air Force for 21 years and served in Missouri with Dallas "Rocky" W. Carlton, RA22997079. Rocky had been in the 73rd Tank Battalion in Korea and had written a personal book, which he named "See You in Hell". The book told about being behind enemy lines, being captured, etc. My family is not sure that he made very many copies, if any, of this book and would like to see if he and /or his family needs or wants a copy. We do know that Rocky was raised in Kentucky.
