Comments: My dad Dean DeRouchey of WI just passed a week ago and I'm putting together his memorial.
My dad requested a veteran type funeral and I am looking for service related stories by anyone that served with him and stories like what an average day was like and other significant events
Also does anyone know if he was part of the unit that built the bridge the plane crashed into?

Comments: Just wanted to update my e-mail address. It is kojimm@comcast.net. Hope to hear from anyone who served with my father, Dan Moreau, in Korea. He was with the 409th. Only was in Korea about 4-5 months in 1951 before he was medically evacuated to Japan.

Comments: My grandfather just recently pasted away, he was a veteran of the Korean War. I am looking for information on a flag that he had. The flag is red with yellow writting. The flag has 981 with two cannons under it forming a cross, under the cannons is a "b".

My grandfather said that all of the men in this division were killed in the war. My grandfather and another man volunteered to bring the flag back to California on behalf of these soldiers.

I am looking for any information that someone may have.

Comments: WE WERE MADE UP OF CALIF. NAT'L GUARD, MICH. AND WISC. NAT'T GUARD UNITS AND DRAFTEES WHO WERE PUT WITH THOSE UNITS TO BRING THEM UP TO FULL STRENGTH. WE WERE A HQ/HQ UNIT WITH ALL THE ENG'R PERSONEL GOING THRU OUR UNIT BUT WAS A RATHER SMALL UNIT SOME 186 OFFICERS AND ONLY AS I REMEMBER SOME 150 ENLISTED PERSONEL. A ONE STAR GENERAL WAS THE COMMANDING OFFICER, GENERAL KELLOGG FROM LOS ANGELES. I STILL HAVE SOME OF THE COMPANY LISTS IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN SEEING THEM. KEITH PEOPLES

Comments: I was sent to Korea in the Headquarters Unit of the 409th in July 1951. Stationed at Pusan, Korea until December 1952. Discharged January 1953.
There were several members of the 409th from Michigan and Wisconsin if I remember correctly but have not heard or been contacted by any of the original unit. If any one should read this post from the original unit or after the above dates I would appreciate hearing from them.
