He helped repair the runway at the airbase at Teagu and built many bridges. He also assisted in the building a hospital at Teagu. Does anyone know if the hospital is still there. I know he would be thrilled if he could talk with anyone he was stationed with.

Comments: The quarry was being prepared for a shoot of over a ton of dinamite. Looked up and saw a Korean laborer packing dinamite with a 20 foot drifter drill shaft. he picked up the rod 5 or 6 feet then let it fall on the placed dinamite. The next few seconds of my life have been relived a million times as I charged up the ledges. all the time,my thoughts were;why are you doing this?..turn around ..and these are my men..I have to go..like running in a dream or nightmare...but got there and cold cocked the laborer..then grabbed and froze onto the shaft..expecting any second to be my maker. I learned what it is like to do what has to be done and why they train the officers corp to deeply believe in Duty to their men. The casualties could have been horrible. Right person at the right place at the right time to do Gods work. Bless us all and Essayons.

Comments: After several recons to locate lost troops, went out as Company Commander to locate the men.Had looked at all normal roads so looked at alternate routes. One was a crossing of the Pukhan at a ford site. Sighted the jeep high-centered on a big rock at mid river. The jeep had a winter heating system that exhausted thru the tail pipe. Pulled up beside the jeep and got no response so,jumped out into ice cold river, thigh deep. The four men were unconsious from corbon-monoxide. got them out and up on the jeep and to the closest hospital.Bless them. They were four less casualties of the Korean war.

Comments: While at ASCOM City (2nd time) as a Dept. of the Army Civilian I was a mechanic foreman at the 54th Engr. Field Maint. Co.. I was incharge of the High Bay shop at the 565th Engr. Depot, located West of the Hill from the 74th.

I was there from May 1956 to Feb. 1959, I did several repaires on equip. of the 74th, 604 and 802 Lima shovels, 51b Bucyrus shovel, the 200 to 400 Pioneer, (the monster) primary jaw crusher and many repairs on the DJ-50'S. The quarry was east of pipe line road up in the big granet wall.

While at the 54th I visited the 74th EM club many times to visit with two of my old buddies from the 43rd Engr. Const. Bn. while at Tokorozawa, Japan 1949 to 1951, they were Able from TX. and Campbell from MO. supper guys.

My first trip to ASCOM (Army Support Command) was
Jan. 28 1948 to Jan. 1949, served with the 504th Hv. Maint. Co., 92nd Engr. Svs. Co. and the 443rd Base Depot Supply Co.

Spent 6 or 7 months on the DSD Unit, (Depot Security Detatchment), also had several train guard trips from Inchon to ASCOM.

Sorry to be so long winded. I'm now 72 and operate equipment for the Salt Lake County Solid Waste Div. 826G-II Catterpillar Compactor, I'm trying to work to 74 yrs. old to make a total of 60 yrs at (Hard Labor), (then I can take on a part time job) howerver I've been down for 3 weeks recovering from gaul bladder rimoval, I return to work on 03 Sept. 02
