Comments: The quarry was being prepared for a shoot of over a ton of dinamite. Looked up and saw a Korean laborer packing dinamite with a 20 foot drifter drill shaft. he picked up the rod 5 or 6 feet then let it fall on the placed dinamite. The next few seconds of my life have been relived a million times as I charged up the ledges. all the time,my thoughts were;why are you doing this?..turn around ..and these are my men..I have to go..like running in a dream or nightmare...but got there and cold cocked the laborer..then grabbed and froze onto the shaft..expecting any second to be my maker. I learned what it is like to do what has to be done and why they train the officers corp to deeply believe in Duty to their men. The casualties could have been horrible. Right person at the right place at the right time to do Gods work. Bless us all and Essayons.

Sighted the jeep high-centered on a big rock at mid river. The jeep had a winter heating system that exhausted thru the tail pipe. Pulled up beside the jeep and got no response so,jumped out into ice cold river, thigh deep. The four men were unconsious from corbon-monoxide. got them out and up on the jeep and to the closest hospital.Bless them. They were four less casualties of the Korean war.
