Comments: My father served with the 2nd Engineering Special Brigade that was part of the Inchon landing with the Marines. He thinks he landed on Red Beach. When the award papers were given the date was changed to make the Army units landing the day after the Marines landed. Does anyone else know about this landing of the 2nd Engineering Special Brigade on the same day as the Marines landed to take Inchon? He knows one of the landings were at Wom-mi-do and then the next landing was at Inchon. The LST that he came into Inchon on came directly from Japan.

I have a Letter of Commendation from his Commanding Officer Lt. Col. William F. Ladson that places him at Outport #1, Suyong, Korea after the signing of the armistice. I believe that he was in country from about May 1953, to about November 1954. I'm also interested to know if there were any unit patches other than the "Sea Stallion" seahorse that might have been worn by the Regiment or Brigade. I am trying to complete a display case to pass on to my grandchildren and I am his only living child so if I don't do it and fill in the gaps in the history then I don't think any will. Comments: To those that served in the 2nd Engineer Special Brigade,
My name is Rick Warriner. I am the eldest son of Laverne Richard Warriner who was in your outfit. I can remember Dad telling me about "General Twitty and his thousand thieves." Dad died in 2004 of cancer but I have been trying to put together his life in the war that almost everyone has forgot.
I served in the US Navy aboard submarines. I hope you won't hold that against me. My two brothers are also Navy veterans. Dad told us that if we went in the Navy we would at least have a warm dry bed.
Dad did not talk much about his time in Japan and Korea. He was a demolitions expert as well as drove LCM's. He was wounded working on a power pole at an airbase he was constructing/rebuilding. The sniper hit his safety belt and he fell into a rice paddy. At least that is the about all I got out of him.
I have some pictures of his time in Japan but when he fell, all of his personal items in Korea seemed to find new homes.
If you could recommend a good book for me to read about your outfits time in country I would be most grateful.
Oh, I am sorry I didn't start the letter with this... THANKS! I have done some reading on your war. As best as I can determine, it was cold, wet, confusing, and hard to end. The delays at the peace talks must have been HELL on you guys. Thank you for serving!!!!
Most Respectfully,
Rick Warriner

While in Japan served at Camp Mcgill, not far from Yokosuka, and also at Chigasaki, Japan. Some names I remember from that era: General Luplow, the Brigade Commander, Captain Kenty, our Company Commander in Chigasaki, Sgt Wade, Cpl Tammelleo, and numerous other guys who are just a blur in my memory. One important guy was our First Sergeant, Sgt Hall. I have tons of memories from this era.
