Comments: My father was the Detachment Commander from 27 Aug 1960 to 13 Oct 1961.
He was Captain Bill D. Cotton at that time.
I don't know anything about his service there. He reported to Fort Lewis after that.

Comments: The 557th was a very small unit (3 men) - We were attached to X Corps for food and logistics. Part of my work involved preparing field reports and drawings of enemy explosive devices and taking them to the 533rd ETIT (Research)located in the rear echelon. Along with the 533rd, We were instrumental in preparing a English/Korean Engineer Dictionary that was published by the GHQ in Tokyo and released in early 1952.
