Comments: Hello, My grandfather was in the 3rd engineer combat battalion 24th infantry division HQ Company (I beleive this is right) during Korea. M/SGT Arvon Lee Midgett. He is still alive, I was wondering if you knew of him? I have a "blackbox" of his that he carried, it has all the name/ S/N / etc. etc. of his men, I also have about 200-300 pictures of one of his tours. He served in WWII, Korea, and Veitnam. He spent 21 years in the Army. His tank, a M4A3E8 (With the dozer blade) named "Mona Teresa" If you think that you know of him, or you know somebody that knows him, PLEASE contact me.

- A few things that may help you remember him? -

He was also Elvis Presly's SGT at one time.

Also, at one time his tanks was painted "The year of the Tigers" In his log he wrote;
" 28 Jan 50
Tanks will be painted to -
resemble ferocious Tigers -
Blk - Tellow - Red - White
when paint available ..."

He also spent time in Japan, Korea, Panama City, Cuba, England, Germany, etc. etc.

Here is a small list of men that he was in command in. This comes from his "book", I will just list just the names.

Ciuft
Willson (Or willisP)

Comments: After returning from a year in Korea myself, I became interested in my father's tour during the 50's. He began in '52 as PFC Leo (Lucky) Nelson, then CPL, and finally SGT. He served in HSC 3rd ENG BN first as a welder under a SGT Vasquez(sp)in maintenance, "On the hill"
He then went on to operate a 10 ton recovery vehicle, and later as his tour was winding down was the Sergeant of a convoy delivering care packages to the orphanages in Pusan.
He remembers very little, but would like to hear from anyone who remembers him.
Only a very few names stick out in his memory,
Col Steinhoffer(sp) was the Bn Commander, and his 1SG was Moody, 1SG Moody had red hair, and a red beard, He thinks they called him "The Big Red Bull"
Please email me with any info, and I'll pass it on to him, Dad's no good with computers, and his health is fading, but it would sure brighten up his day to hear from an Army buddy.
Thanks alot,
SPC David Nelson

Comments: Three years ago today, Veterans Day, I wrote a message on this board looking for my uncle, MSG Robert Paul Bibb. Paul was an SFC, serving with C Co. when he was declared missing during the retreat from Taegu 7/20/50. His body was never found and the Army lost all personnel records in a fire in the early 70's. Any unit records that may have existed from that chaotic time have also been lost. I was able to find Billy Johnson who says that he served with Paul but was not with him at the end.

I did my combat time in Vietnam, also with the Army, and I know how confusing the situation can be and how the paperwork doesn't always catch up to what happened. But, I also know the bond that is created among veterans whose only protection was a thin cotton shirt and their buddy beside them. I am counting on that.

I know that the odds are slight, but I must try one more time to reach out and see if I can't find someone who stood with Paul on his last day.

Now that my mother, Paul's sister, is the last of her family it would mean a great deal to her, and to me, if we could find out what happened that day.

If anyone can help, please contact me.

Comments: I am searching for more information on my biological father, Charles Edward Fullwood, he was a Korean War Vet. I was lucky enough to have met him and know him for 3 1/2 years before he passed away in 1994. He belonged to the Co B, 3d Engr (C) Bn, APO 24 - on his discharge papers (which I have) it states this as his most significant duty. He was also in the Foriegn and/or Sea service for 1year 4months and 14 days. I would like to know what it consisted of if there were others with him or someone who may know. He was in the Army from May 8, 1953 when he enlisted in Ft. Leonard Wood MO until May 7, 1956. He did make SGT (T) on Oct 21, 1954. What does the (T) stand for..?
I have requested a replacement of his medals to put with his flag and picture.
I would love to hear if anyone knew him or if anyone may have pictures.

Marriage was anulled because it wasn't approved by commander) and would like to have some contact with him. Our government (in it's infinite wisdom)disallowed his wife's benefits after his death on the grounds that the marriage wasn't approved by his commander. If you're out there Cuz, It wasn't my fault and I would love to meet you.
Both were killed soon after shipping out to Korea from Japan in the early fifties.

Comments: I joined the company at Pohang where Capt. Watt was Co. We crossed the Naktong in Sep., paused at the 38th, then got within 17 miles of the Yalu before the big bubout. Msgt MacDougal(?) was the Platoon Sgt. after he returned from the hospital. There was a Lt. Yanega, Cpt. Rhode, Lt. Petty, Lt. Ed Walters, Lt Tice, Lt Rice. Cpt. Joe Edmunds, our North Korean barber, Little Joe, Mess Sgt. (or was it 1st Sgt.) Spaeth. The engineers never got a day's rest-although we did get a whiskey ration later on. Bless you all.
