Comments: I was talking to John Silkwood today and we mentioned some of the guys we were with in Korea,
however we both come to the conclusion that after
50 yrs. we both are vague in our memories. We
would like to obtain a roster of all of the men
in our company. The problem is, we don't know
where to go to get this info and would like any
help you can give us. I spoke to the people at
the 40th museum and they had nothing.

Comments: I am looking for information regarding my father, Mel Borchik, who recently passed away. He rarely spoke of his time in Korea, however, he did mention a few names and a couple things that he experienced over there.
One of those individuals is a CPT Shaugnessy and a friend of his originally from Wisconson who was in the 224th, a SGT John Clancy.
My father had referenced the Kumwha Valley, Heartbreak Ridge and the Punchbowl as well.
I am a Master Chief Petty Officer in the Navy, (E-9), active duty, and would sincerely appreciate any information regarding my father from this era of his life. Thank you for your time and service.

Photos can be of people or places of interest. Photos of the Sandbag Castle, Heartbreak Ridge, Kumwha, Punchbowl, anything of interest that other members of the 40th Div can relate to. I have started the site and have a few photos. They can be seen at http://www.bob-west.com . When the page comes up just click on the 40th Div patch.(For you people that forgot it's the blue patch with the sunburst in the center.) men I served with on those extremely
cold mountains in Korea.

We lost some fine young guys over and I sometimes wonder what they would be doing now, had they survived that war.

I regret not going to see their parents, it may have given some comfort to them, at that time. Unfortunately most or all of their parents are gone.
