Comments: I am trying to find information on my father's time served in Korea with the 223rd, K Company, between 1950 and 1952. He didn't like to speak about it, but gave me an album with photos, news articles, letters, maps, name and address lists, etc.
If anyone recognizes his name or knew him (GEORGE L. BROWN), I would really appreciate anyone sharing their memories. He passed away 3 years ago, and this will help me to put this part of his life to rest.
How does a daughter go about requesting (or ordering) her father's medals and badges? I don't think he ever tried to obtain them himself.
And finally...where does a person find info on how to decipher his "Report of Separation"? All those acronyms have completely baffled me for years!
All of this information will help me to pass a part of his life history on to my children, his grandchildren. I think it is very important to remember the service of our Veterans, and to pass on their stories....and our gratitude.
THANKS, Linda L. Brown

Comments: Gentlemen of the fighting 40th,
I am in need of assistance. I have been appointed by my family to find someone who was with my cousin when he was killed. (Or, someone who knew of the incident.) My name is Mark T. Martinez, my cousin’s name was Salomon Valdez Jr. Salomon was killed on February 1st, 1952 near Kumsong, Korea (Hill 364). He was in Company “F” 223rd Inf. Reg, 40th Infantry Division.
We got a letter from a SGT James Wilber, and a PFC Kenneth Morgan who were in the same unit the month after he was killed. I am looking for these gentlemen, or anyone who may know them, or know of the incident.
Please help our family put this matter to rest.
Thank You,
Mark T. Martinez
