Comments: Was a member of Company B 17th Infantry Regiment.
Joined the Regiment some time in Sep/orOct 1952 in
Chunchong, Korea (not sure if spelled right). From
there went to Triangle Hill and then the Regiment was
sent south to the Inland of Koji-Do 50 miles off the
southern city of Puson to guard North Korean
prisinors for 2 months until the Regiment got up to
strength. Left Koji-Do I believe early January 1953
by LST and landed at Inchon. From there we went back
to Triangle Hill until I rotated to Japan in July
1953. Stayed in the Army until I retired as a
Sergeant Major in 1978 (30 years). Also spent 18
months in Vietnam.

E Barker's service with I company during the last
year of the Korean War. He participated in the second
Inchon landing and was slightly wounded in the head
while on patrol early in his service. He also fought
in both battles of Pork Chop Hill and took a load of
shrapnel from a hand grenade in the last battle. He
often speaks of a South Korean soldier named Shin Jon
Han, who served faithfully in his squad. My father is
now nearly 81 years old and his memories of his
service have not dimmed. He will only share bits and
pieces of his experiences with his family and I would
be interested in hearing from anyone who may have
served with him. Thank You.

Comments: Hi, My name is Tommy Chestnut and I am a Lieutenant with the Police Department in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am in need of some help and was hoping that you could assist me. It would be so kind if you could direct me where to find more information.

My dad before me was a Police Officer for the City of Myrtle Beach, SC and retired as a Lieutenant in the fall of 1973 due to some medical complications. He passed away in 1976 when I was still a young teen. Due to my dads business and working hours, I did not get an opportunity to know him as well as I would have liked, and now that I am reaching some age in my life, I would like to find out more about him.

I have an article from a local news paper (Conway, SC). The article tells a little of the Battle of Chupa-ri, Korea in September of 1951 where my dad received a Bronze Star for his actions during this battle. He served in Company D, 17th Infantry.

I was hoping that you could direct me in where I could find some articles, pictures or film that may help me learn more about this battle, his unit and anything about them.

Thank you in advance for any assistance in this matter.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who had trouble with there toes from the cold winter of 60-61. It was ab extreme winter and lot of snow. Wet leather boots and freezing weather caused me to have very painful toes and bad nails. If aneone else has the same problim let me know. I have filed a clame with the VA and need more evidence .
