Please continue the great work in your developing and updating the Website. I will be going back to the site periodically to see more.
Thanks from a KW Vet.

DOD only shows him at the first phase of induction to the 296 infantry,
but strangely enough they do not show any records of him being in the
3rd division 15 regiment at Kelly Hill. Ofcourse like many of our
soldiers from that era he has been turn down for medals, pensions, Etc
only because DOD has lost his medical records which would prove that
he was wounded in combat. My father is in his final days, I refuse to
see him go without recognition of his sacrifice to this nation. Please

Comments: I am looking for any and all information regarding my grandfather, Sidney Edward Johnson. He grew up in Aiken, South Carolina. According to a copy of his "Form 66--Officer Qualification Record," he would have been either a 1st Lt or WOJG (his records indicate a resigned commission, though he was later an officer again; I believe he resigned his commission in order to get out of administration and back in a combat platoon) in "Co H 15th Inc FECOM" during Korea. His earlier service included survival of the attack on Pearl Harbor, fighting from Schofield Barracks, and fighting in the campaigns of New Guinea and the Philippines, later serving as part of the occupation forces of both Japan and Germany. I have a Japanese Battle Flag that my grandfather gave me years ago as a child that I am having framed. It includes a note from him indicating that it was taken off a deceased Japanese soldier in October 1944, outside the town of Dagupin, in the province of Lingayen, on the island of Luzon. The dead Japanese soldiers, one from whom this flag was taken, were inside a thatched hut. The hut was burned and the two Japanese soldiers were cremated. All indications from this website are that U.S. forces did not land on Luzon until February of 1945. Is it possible there were forces in this area in October of 1944, or was my grandfather's memory faulty? Incidentally, I am currently having the flag (Japanese writing, bloodstains and all) framed to hang in my house. I am extremely proud of my grandfather's service, but know little about his experiences, other than his military records and some pictures taken during WWII and Korea (after trying a number of times over the years to get him to relay accounts of his experiences, including a request to do a videotaped oral history, only to be told, quite sternly, that "war is hell, Jason," I stopped asking). He and I were very close and, six months before he died, I changed my last name to my mother's maiden name so that I could carry on his legacy. I buried him at Arlington. Any information on my grandfather would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Comments: Corporal Castro was a member of the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was KIA, in N. Korea on 6-11-53. My family has little to no information on my grandfather and his experiences. We know nobody that fought bravely by his side. We are desperate to hear anything about Pedro Ortiz Castro. If anyone has any information about him or pictures to share we would be very grateful. No thought or rememberance is to insignificant. I thank everyone in advanced who will help us bring some light into our lives. God Bless.

Comments: My grandfather served in E Co 15th inf 3 div in 1952/53. His name is Kenneth Lockard. He took part in the battle at Outpost Harry as a squad leader. He lost many people. His records indicate that his bravery earned him a Silver Star. He did not talk much about the war when he returned. I am looking for anyone who may have known him or have pictures of him. I am also interested in collecting the awards that he earned and never received. I would appreciate any information on what the steps would be to do this or even if it is still possible. Thank you so much.

Comments: Looking for any one who has any information about heavy tank companies either assign or attached to the 15th Inf Reg. My dad who recently passed away, talked about his time in Korea before he died. Most was memories that came and went. So if you have any information on the Tank Comapnies or him, his name is Carol Max Smith, he was from WV but came in the Army in OH.

Comments: Official Defense History of the Final Days of the Korean war are piecemeal and incomplete. A long time ago we served in Korea at sites known then by American names, not Korean Proper places. The war experience to me was a moving war and MLR was not established but changed as the movement of troops progressed or receded. We had to dig our foxholes on the places where we set up resistance to the CCF.
