Also remember the "friendly fire" incident. Have pictures of the damage to the trucks in C Company.
How in the world our Air Force could bomb our forces on the South side of the Imjin River I'll never know or be able to explain.
Keep in touch.

He has Alzheimers and has been in VA hospital for the last several years.
Just yesterday I found out what unit he was in.
If anyone could email me with any info about what your unit did during the war, I would love to give it to my sister. He never said too much about his time in Korea. Thanks, Marcy

Comments: It was cold in the winter time. Lots of snow. Me being from the southern part of Texas, I wasn`t used to the cold. I was Company clerk in Hq Co and later I was made acting First Sergent. I wish I had kept a list of the names of all the soldiers in the company.

Comments: I would like to hear from any of the old guys that were in the 151st Combat Engineers, I was there in August of 1954. When I got there I had just turned 17, thats the reason to me you were old guys (early 20s). I remember my first day there we were on the 38th parralle, a GI by the name of Blankenship was trying to get a game of ball started, I didn't think we had any balls, (HAHA)he chose sides by who was from the North and from the South. I was worried more about bullets than balls, you guys raised me from a pup, Thanks to all of you

Comments: SOPORI WAS A DEATH TRAP.WE WERE THE LUCKIEST MEN IN KOREA. A FEW MORE MINUTES AND WE WOULD HAVE BEEN GROUND UP WITH THE TRIPLE NICKLE FIELD BN.THAT VALLEY WAS SHAPED LIKE A HOLLOWED OUT HALF OF A WATERMELON WITH A LITTLE ENTRANCE AT THE NORTH AND A SIMILAR EXIT AT THE FAR END OF A 12 MILE RUN.

THE CHINKS HAD THE HIGH GROUND AND WERE SHOOTING DOWN. THE ARTILLARY AND TANKS COULD NOT ELEVATE AND RETURN FIRE. I WAS IN THAT VALLEY WHEN WE RETOOK THE AREA.ANYONE WHO CAME OUT OF THAT VALLEY,THAT NIGHT HAD TO WALK..BETTER....,RUN,SHOOT AND SCOOT. WE DID NOT LOSE A MAN OR PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. THANK GOODNESS FOR A FEW COMBAT EXPERIENCED MEN LIKE THE FIRST SOLDIER.WE AMOST DID NOT GROW OLD OR HAVE OUR KIDS AND GRANDS. GOD BE THANKED.

Comments: I was in the same outfit as Sgt. Elgan who has made an entry before me. He remembers it as B Co, I remember it as C Co. so 50 yrs. has made a difference in one our memories. Anyway we were strafed by four of our Jets plus they dropped a bomb on the Imjin River bridge and knocked one section of it out. That happened just a short time before the truce went into effect at 10:00 PM that night in 1953.

Being a vet. myself, I would love to learn as much as I could about my dad's Army days! I beleive that this year, (2001), would be the 50th anaversity of some bridge that he helped build across a major river. Does this ring a bell to anyone? I believe it took 7 hours and 50 min. to build it. If anyone thinks they may have know him and has got any info. for me about his time in Korea Please e-mail me @ jimbo047@yahoo.com
