Comments: After several years of frustrating processes, my Uncle John E. Kutschbach, who died July 15, 1953, is now officially recognized as a Korean War Casualty. His name is in the Korean War Honor Roll.
I would like to thank everyone at the Korean War Project for their support and advice over the years so that I could do this one last thing to honor my Uncle John, who died too young.
Thanks Again!

MY UNCLE FOUGHT AND DIED FOR THIS COUNTRY, BUT IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS KIA FOR THE KOREAN WAR. YOU WILL NOT FIND HIS NAME ON ANY MEMORIAL!!!!! WHY?
Chillicothe Gazette, July 28, 2003
Forgotten victim
As the names of those who died during the conflict were read, one was especially important to Tina Kutschbach, of Chillicothe. Her uncle, John E. Kutschbach, of Kinnikinnick, died on July 15, 1953, from wounds suffered in battle at the age of 22.
Tina has fought a battle of her own trying to get her uncle recognized. He was not listed as a war casualty in the National Archives. Tina said his name was omitted because he died in a hospital in Japan, not on the battlefield.
"It's just really sad that the government can't recognize someone just because of where he died," she said.
Tina said the United States was trying to keep the number of casualties down, so they didn't include people who died out of Korea. She said she has tried contacting veterans organizations and politicians to have John honored, but to no avail.
"It's either no one has interest, or no one can do anything," she said.

Family members recently came across this information and are looking for surviving members of this unit. A picture was found showing the date of September of 1953. Norman rigged up a popcorn popper and a homemade shower. Norman is presently in the late stages of Alzheimer's. We just have one newspaper clipping and a few pictures that were taken in Korea. We would be interested in any additional information that is available and would share copies of the pictures we have.

Comments: I don't remember other names anymore,i have managed to blank out most everything from Korea. It was a bad time in my life, but i still remember John Menor,he looked after me when i was green, and probably kept me alive.I still have a picture of him behind a 50 caliber air cooled on a particularly bad day.
