Comments: My wife's uncle, Franklin Izuo, served in the 403rd Wing and was killed during the Korean War when his plane crashed on December 26, 1952. Franklin was the radioman on a C47 transport owned and operated by the Royal Hellenic Air Force which crashed shortly after takeoff from Chinhae Airfield. Franklin was taking the place of a buddy, Sam, who was called to report but was feeling sick. We are writing a biography on Franklin and trying to find out Sam's full name and any other info/memories of Franklin. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Comments: I am looking for anyone who has information in reference to the above unit. Orson William Hildebrand, was my brother, now deceased. HE WAS STATIONED AT Ashiya Air Force Base- JAPAN IN 52 AND 53. He may have flown into Korea in 52 and 53.I saw a picture of a airplane with body bags lining both sides either on racks or straped to the sides of the airplane. he was a Acft Elect Rpmn-could he have been assigned to fly as a Acft Elect Rpmn?
He had shown me the picture and said he had flown the deceased back to Japan. His combat record shows he was in the second summer fall offensive, third Korean winter . Korea, and Korean summer-fall, Korea-52-53 He was continually in sick bay or the ASHIYA AIR FORCE BASE HOSPITAL-JAPAN WITH FLU TYPE SICKNESS-UNKNOWN. Just wondering if anyone knows of anyone else who had the same sickness. This sickness continued on through his enlistment.

I had to return to the ZI in June of 1953 on emergency leave. As a result I did not return to K-16 and never received my Air Medal (I flew 42 C1 Missions) I should be on orders with someone but can't seem to find any of the guys I knew. I lived in tent 706.

I'm sure many a GI remember being airlifted to
safety, or to a hospital while wounded. Our outfit
was responsible for saving many life's. We lost a
few planes landing on the Korean beaches with our C47, but all in all it was worth it.
