Comments: I'm looking for anyone stationed at Tachikawa in 1953-54.Iwas with the 47th Sqd, until it was sold to the the Japanese govt. for a dollar a piece for our C-46's.
We were moved to Miho in southern Japan. Each airman had a Japanese counter part. That was a experience traing the Japanese. Let me know if you were there at that time.

Service or Relationship: Air Force Veteran - Korea

Comments: I was in the 51st Air Base Gp at Naha,
Okinawa when the Korean War began in June
1950. We were quickly called up and operated
for a short time out of southern Japan until all
C-46's were gathered up from the pacific and
formed into the 374th Gp at Tachikawa, Japan.
We soon went to K-14, Kimpo, Korea and
remained there until we were run out by the
Chinese in January 1951. We regrouped at
Tachikawa and then went to join the 437th, a
reserve group at Brady AB near Fukuoka. I had
many good friends in the 47th Sqd and later
the 83rd Sqd of the 437th.

Keywords: Often called "Tommy". Crewchief and flight
engineer on C-46D, 44-78270 at K14.
