Comments: I just bought a stien at the goodwill that was from Germany, there is
no date, it has Rhein main air base on it and maybe a callsign HAzle
on it. Does anyone know a Major Dixon J Arnold? That was on a
different stien also. I'm in the AF now and thought it was an
awesome find, with old history!

returned to States.Was then transferred to the 22nd.
Troop carrier Sqdn.at Tachikawa A.F.B.near Tokyo.
Was at Tachi when we lost the c-124 Globemaster
about 3 miles
from the runway with 127 on board.All Killed,G I's
returning to Korea From R and R Leave.

Comments: My father, CMSGT Severino (Sevy) DiCocco (USAF
Retired), who served in the 53rd Troop Carrier
Squardon during the Berlin Airlift and then later in
Japan and Korea, passed away January 24th, 2012, after
a long battle with cancer. He said that in all of his
years on active duty and with various units at various
locations, he considered the 53rd Blackjacks to be
the best outfit he ever served in. Dad will be buried
at Arlington National Cemetery on 28 March, 2012.
Feel free to pass this on to any former Berlin
airlifters, Korean veterans, or other Blackjacks that
may've known him. If anyone has any favors to cash in
with the guys in Long Island flying the C-54 Spirit
of Freedom, or the current Blackjacks (C-130s?) at
Little Rock, that could help arrange a flyover on the
28th, my family would greatly appreciate the tribute.
