Commander was C. E. Coffin, Jr., H.D. Johnston, lieutenants were O. Steinberg Jr., E.C. Johnson, Lt. Hevener. Does anyone have any info. My brothers and I were so very you g when he passed and info would be appreciated. He pulled Vincent Crimmen from the surf when he went overboard in 1950.
Thanks for any insight.

Also many vets wonder what the finial disposition
of their vessels was. It would be nice to have a
summery of where the ship went from the time of
the Korean War until it was scrapped or disposed
of in some other way. Just something to think
about.
More:
I obtained a VESSEL STATUS CARD from the Maritime Commission for the USS Bexar APA 237.
The ship was constructed by the Oregon Shipbuilding Company and completed 10-09-45 and delivered to the US Navy on 10-09-45. It served with the US Navy as an active vessel until 08-07-70 at 3:30 PDT when it was placed in the reserve fleet in Suisun Bay, California. Suisun Bay is in the northern end of the San Francisco Bay near Vallejo, CA.
On 07-01-72 the USS Bexar was transferred from the US Navy to the Maritime Commission. She was in the Maritime Commission's reserve fleet until 02-19-82 when it was sold to C. W. Enterprises and Investment Inc. for scraping in South Korea or Taiwan as part of a Trade In Program. The USS Bexar was physically delivered to C. W. Enterprises and Investment Inc. on 06-16-82 at 10:07 PM PDT.
If I come across any more information regarding the USS Bexar I'll let you know.
Keep up the good work.
