Comments: If anybody knew my Grandfather Donald Sirman I would very much like to hear from you. I am a 2LT in the U.S. Army. I am trying to work out an inner-service transfer to follow in my Grandfathers footsteps, and become a fighter pilot.

Comments: I'm looking for anyone who flew with or knew my father, Larry E. Plaster, in Korea in 1951-52. His F-86 was named Ole Goofy, and the crew chief was "Dusty" Cincotta. Did talk briefly with Joe Burgermeister, who flew with him, in 1981.

Thank You!

Comments: I voluntered from the 35th maint Squadron as propeller technician for the "Bout One" group going to Taegu Korea. Originally our mission was to teach the S. Koreans to fly and maintain P-51's that were for their defense, as I recollect.
After several incidents we realized that they were not able to train soon enough and our pilots and mechanics took over, the Koreans were sent on to some other site. Our Commanding Officer was, at that time Major Hess and he asked for volunteers to return with him to Pusan after we had to abandon the K-2 airbase. I chose to return to Johnson A.B. and the 40th Fighter Squadron.
We were told, "no cameras" but I had a small pocket sized 35 mm and freely took pictures, including one of Major Hess. I am sure most of these pictures may be of value to someone writing of the war.

Keywords: Looking for Bill Meyers or information on contacting family members. I have pictures of him. Also have picture of, at that time Major Hess in Korea

Comments: Captain Donald Stainthorpe Sirman (SQDN AF WING/GROUP,35th FBS) was shot down over N. Korea on 7/7/50. He was a POW until 6/14/51, when he was killed by his captors. Captain Sirman was from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Captain Sirman was my mother's older brother. She has scant memories of the circumstance surrounding her brother's death, but recalls the family was told that Capt. Sirman and some other prisoners left the camp, unnoticed, to gather food. They were caught and Capt. Sirman was shot and killed. His remains were left in Korea.

If anyone served with my uncle, or knows anything about the circumstances of his captivity and/or death, our family would be pleased to speak with you. Thank you.

Susan Burgess (niece)
