Comments: I'm searching for anyone who knew (or flew) with my grand uncle 1st Lieut. Eugene Ralph Hansen. He served with the 5th Communication Squadron and later with the 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron based out of Itazuke AB in Japan. On July 7, 1950, he was the lead man on a mission flying an F80C over the Ansong, South Korea area with several two other pilots (1 Lt. Elwood Kees Jr. and 1 Lt. Charles A. Wurster). While strafing a column of trucks and tanks on the ground, his plane by canon fire. He bailed out of his aircraft but his parchute did not open. His remains were recovered in 1951 and returned to Fremont, Nebraska, for burial in March 1952.
I would love to visit with anyone who knew Eugene or his wife Florence during the time that he was stationed at Itazuke Air Force Base in Fukuoka, Japan (1948-1950).
Thank you!

We are putting together a large memorial in our new squadron facility dedicated to fliers and maintainers who gave the ultimate sacrifice which we will unveil this coming spring. I am looking for a picture of their time in the Fiends as well as any stories or letters you may have of his or her experiences in the squadron, electronic copies work also if you do not want to part with cherished memories I absolutely understand. Thank you and thank your departed loved ones for their sacrifice.

Comments: My uncle (mother's brother) was Raoul P. Mouton Jr. He flew the F-86F Sabre with the 36th FBS out of K-13, Suwon, Korea, from Feb. 1953 until his death in a C-124 crash June 18, 1953. I got curious as to what the Bureau number of "Junior's" F-86 was and what name he might have given his aircraft. I've seen a lot of great websites on the 36th FBS and just had the honor and pleasure of talking to Lt. Col Jim James(Ret.)who was in Queen Flight with Junior in 1953. My research has led me to create a spreadsheet compiling 36th FBS pilot names, their aircraft Bureau numbers, and their aircraft names (if any, Col. James said he didn't name his Sabre). I will be happy to share this spreadsheet with anyone who is interested in the 36th FBS from 1953. If anyone can contribute names and bureau numbers of 36th FBS F-86F aircraft from Feb. to June 1953, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have lost the name of my crew chief. Does anyone remember the aircraft and crew chief's name? We had had some problems with engine surges before it was shot down, and the crew chief was afraid that it's loss was due to that problem, but that was not the case. (Glass was hit by ground fire.) He had worked long and hard on that aircraft and should be proud of his efforts.

My uncle was an F-86 pilot in the squadron who became MIA and I've had the distinct privilege hearing from his fellow pilots, and would now like to hear the perspective from those who maintained the F-86Fs as well as those who loaded the bombs and ammo onto the planes. My uncle, in his letters, spoke highly of those who took care of the aircraft and spent lots of his free time on the flight line learning from them.
Also, I have a website about my uncle with colored photos of the 36th FBS on it. There are a couple of photos in which I don't know the names of the enlisted personnel and thought that maybe someone who served on the flight line could identify.

Comments: I recently acquired several items of 36th FS memorabilia which once belonged to Lt. Col. Virgil W. Kuns who, sadly, passed away in Oakhurst, Calif. on 01/27/01.
Would sure enjoy hearing from anyone who might have known Col. Kuns and can provide information about his combat history in Korea during the time the squadron was flying F-80s.

I would like any info from anyone who may have known my uncle from his short tour with the 36th FBS at K-13 [suwon]in 1953. His name was Lt. Jimmy L. Escalle and he flew the F-86F up until that fateful mission on 19 June, 1953 when he was shot down and killed while on an armed recce mission. He graduated from Webb AFB in class 52-F.
He was also part of MIKE flight. Any stories, anecdotes or photos would be deeply appreciated.
