Comments: I have a scrapbook full of photos of the men he was with and airplanes my uncle flew while in the service. He was from Pennsylvania, John Switzer.
John S Switzer, Delta Airforce Pilot, Korean War Project, 2ndLieutenant 80th Fighter Bomber Squadron USAF. John went by the name of Jack. He died while in Japan in 1957 at the age of 21. His possessions were sent back home to his family, and then passed down to me. He was my Uncle…my Father’s brother. If you are interested in the photos, please get ahold of me.

Comments: For those of you who don't know us, we are the 80th Fighter Squadron Headhunters Association.

We were started by M.F. Kirby (WWII P-38 Ace) and turned into a real organization by Col. Jay Riedel, USAF (Ret). I took over from him in 2010. We represent the members of the 80th Fighter Squadron from WWII, through the Between The Wars years, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War to the current 80th FS Juvat Headhunters at Kunsan AB, ROK.

We publish a quarterly newsletter, hold reunions every two years and maintain a website: http://80fsheadhunters.org/

We are actively seeking Korean War vets who served in the 80th and have a Historian who has a wealth of knowledge about the 80th during that era.

If you'd like to join up or rejoin, please contact me. Dues are the magnificent sum of $10 year for annual members. LIfe Time Memberships are available based on age. For most Korean War vets, it should be $50.

This is not about raising money. We have more than enough for our needs, thanks to some incredible donations and bequests.

We are looking for lost comrades-in-arms.

Comments: I want to send a special thanks to Linda Horton
(neice of 1st LT Ken Tallant) for sending information
regarding my father's (Frank H. Ray) time as a pilot
in the 80th FBS Headhunters.

Another special thank you to Mr. Jerry Minton, who
painstakingly sought me out even though I had
relocated and changed all my contact info since my
original post on this site. We emailed and spoke a
few times and he sent pictures of my father and the
wonderful powerpoint presentation about the 80th FBS
he made for a presentation to the Air Force Academy.

I knew very little about my fathers service and now
have a great amount information. I am meeting my
nephew on Saturday to help him write a report on his
grandfather he never knew. I am proud of this site
for providing a venue to open the door for me and
will pass the legacy of Frank H. Ray proudly to him.

Comments: I'm trying to locate Zachary T. Nicholas. He was stationed with my dad in Amarillo and went to Korea and served in the 80th Fighter Bomber Wing. I believe they were both mechanics. He was the best man for my parents, and my dad is wanting to get in touch with him. After they returned my dad went to Alabama and I believe Zachary went to Georgia. My dad's name is Jack (or Jackie) Dowd. Thank you for any information.

Comments: I am writing a book about the Autumn, 1952 hill battles in the Iron Triangle. My father was a rifle platoon leader in the 31st Infantry Regiment and fought in the battle of Triangle Hill from October 14 to 16, 1952. I am interested in speaking with members of the 80th FB Squadron who recall flying on missions to this area and during the October/November 1952 timeframe. Maj. Charles Loring of the Squadron was killed in action in late November, 1952 during a bombing mission and was later awarded the Medal of Honor. I have interviewed over 100 veterans of the battle to date and have been working on this book for over 4 years. I have a publisher lined up and hope to get the book finished this year. I want to make sure that I do a good job integrating in to the story accounts of the air strikes on these hills and close air support of the infantry in these battles and would appreciate hearing from you.
