Comments: I was in Korea, from 5/1/68 to 5/31/69, assigned to Headquarters I Corps at Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu.
I initially worked as a Clerk Typist assigned to the 54th CBRE, Chemical Detachment and later as an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist in the G-3 Operations section, working in the TOC.
While with the 54th CBRE, my unit commander was Lt. Col. Lawrence Manning Kellam (deceased 12/27/15). Other Officers were Capt. ? Payne and Lt. Charles A. "Tony" Struckholz.
Other enlisted members in our CBRE unit were Spc. Louis Slamar, now living in Madison, WI, James L. Mclean (deceased 6/20/09), who had been living in Prescott Valley, AZ, Thomas "Tom" Hingeveld, living in Rochester, MN and Gerard Gerry Settelmeyer, living in Cottage Grove, OR. I've been fortunate to have reconnected with all but James.
In the G3 Ops unit, my unit commander was Maj. Henry W. Meetze, living in Martinsburg, PA, Sgt. James Boyette, Spc. Myles Kapusta (deceased 5/21/11) and Spc. Michael J. O’Connor. Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to find and reconnect with Maj. Meetze.
Other guys I remember were my best friend, Spc.Daniel Dan Quintana, living in Sun Lakes, AZ, William Bill Schubert, from Normam, OK, Spc. Richard Swinson, from Dallas, TX, Spc. Gary Meeks, Spc. George Bopko, Spc. Terry Sigley, Spc. James Cocker and Spc. Emerson Duran.

I was in the transportation company and stayed in small quanset hut with maybe four other guys. We had our own houseboy ( Joe ). I just don't remember all the names of my buddies. Our hut was just outside the motor pool. I drove gasoline tanker and bus for special USO services and ended up as a dispatcher out of the motor pool where I had a ROK soldier named Park Sun Goon drive a M151 jeep as a taxi service for the camp. Any old buddies out there I was and still am from Cape Cod, Ma....My Bud's all joked about the Boston accent as most were from South or mid-west.

Comments: Looking for information on my grandfather, Scott
Andrews. He was in Korea around 1957-58 and wanted to
marry my grandmother. My mother was the result. We have
never met him and are trying hard to find anyone that
could help us. He was about 6'5, looked a LOT like the
actor Lee Marvin. Also a bit of a drinker and may have
had Pserosis of the liver. He spoke Fluent Korean, may
have been a linguist of some sort as he also spoke
Japanese, German, Russian, maybe some others. He was
originally from Pennsylvania, and I believe he had 2
sisters possibly named Lee and Dianne. We think his
father owned a jewelry store and his mother was a high
school English teacher that had bright red hair and
wore cat eye glasses. Was with Icorps in Korea and
possibly Japan? My mother also thinks he may have been
injured at some point, but details are unclear. Please
feel free to contact me if you have any information.
Thank you and god bless!
