Comments: After the Korean War, my father-in-law, Major Allan Weinfield, was assigned to HQ/SWComd/8249th AU/FEC; as the Assistant G-4. What do the acronyms mean? I know he was a logistical expert and very good at it; but, in WW II and Korea he was also a Tank Commander and Tank Battalion Executive Officer. Then, eventually he was moved into the G-4 Section after Korea.
I am an old airborne type, that dropped on my head too many times. I need some "hand-holding" in trying to figure out the units my father-in-law was assigned to.
I am researching his Army career and will give the results to the US Army Women's Museum, FT. Lee, VA, for inclusion in my late wife's exhibit. She was the first female commissioned officer in the MP Corps; went through the male MP basic and advance courses, and, had to pass all of the male PT requirements. She retired as an LTC (LTC Roselle Weinfield McGuire, USA, MP). The UASWM wants to put my father-in-law's history with her's to show a "multi-generation" Army family. When this is done, I will also send both his and my wife's records to the USA Armor and Quartermaster museums.
Any help anyone can give to me is appreciated. Thank you.
