Comments: Arrived may 1952 and rotated June l953.Had a platoon on Kangwha Do, an island off Inchon.Later took over B company from Captain Rambo.Served on the MLR behind three outposts called Tom,Dick, and Harry. My query is did the battalion ever earn rhe Combat Infantry Badge as did the regimental Companies.{There was a rumor}I heard that the industrious Korean did put out their brand with yellow markings instead of blue and of course it wasnt valid. Thanks for help.

Comments: Email Scammers May Approach You

I recently received an email from someone saying they were in London, England, indicated they wanted to contact me about my deceased Uncle. This person is a SCAMMER and DO NOT correspond with them.

They are in Rwanada and these scams are very common and they say they need your banking information to wire you money. DO NOT provide any information.

These people are likely monitoring these sites and looking at names of deceased member in this forum.

Comments: My original posting from years and years ago seems to be gone.

My Dad was Captain Daniel P. Juraschek. He led the 64th Heavy Tank Batallion across the 38th parallel during the Korean War. If you were with those first Americans to cross, you served with my Dad.

He is alive, but unable to relate any information about Korea or his service there, and his children and grand kids would love to know anything.

When he would talk, years ago, he would only say how proud he was of the men he served with, and that they represented America's finest. He was truly proud of his men.

I would love to hear from you. Thank you.

Comments: Looking for any who may have served with my Grandfather, SFC Charles 'Bud' Church. He was scout with HQ. He served from late 51 to early 53 in Korea. Spent part of this time as a guard at Koje Do POW Camp. Most of his time was on the line near the Imjin River, or at least that's the area he mentioned most often. He mentioned a friend from the war named John Morrow, a fellow scout. Please contact me if you have any information that would help me or if you knew him. He is no longer with us but I want to build a tribute book for my grandmother to commemorate his life.

Thank you to those who served so faithfully in the Korean War, or 'unpleasantness' (as my Grandpa put it), and for those who continue to serve our nation.

respectfully,

Tom Nelson

He was a tank driver, I do not know what company or platoon. I think it was either a Pershing or Patton tank, since he told me it carried a 90mm gun.
I wish I could ask him for more information, but he is no longer with us, and I have wanted to do a tribute story of him, but I am lacking in info.

Comments: I am attempting to reconstruct my father's (MSgt William V. Roney) service in Korea. He has passed away and his memories went with him.

MSgt Wm. V. Roney would have departed Camp Stoneman in late August or early September 1951 and would have arrived in country (Republic of Korea) between September and October 1951 according to information on shipment orders RD-Z135(a) to the Far East Command (FECOM) dated August 1951.

After recovering from the injuries (back injury and head wound) sustained when his tank was destroyed by a Chinese ambush, he was assigned to the KMAG at Taegu. This would have been after June 1952. Photographs that remain show him at Taegu (KMAG Headquarters) training South Korean soldiers. He was with the KMAG until March 1953 when he rotated back to the States.

Most of the photographs, letters, and other memorabilia have been lost. Just exactly what unit he was assigned hasn’t been determined. It has been narrowed down to only a couple of possibilities based on the type of tank and locations the units were in. He was obviously assigned to the 3rd ID based on the “blue and white” shoulder patch. He was also in “B” Company of that unit. He was either a Tank Commander and/or a Platoon Leader (maybe both). The tank – from a slide – resembled a M-46. However, he mentioned being in a “Patton” which would have been an M-48. His tank appeared to be #42 although; he is also shown around a #45 in other slides. By the number of antenna on it (#42), it might have been a “command tank.” Another slide shows him in front of a guidon with the “B” and part of a number “4.” The best guess as to the unit would be the 64th Heavy Tank Battalion, which was organic to the 3rd Infantry Division.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Comments: My dad, was company commander of the 64th Heavy Tank battalion when it's heroes took back the 38th parrallel in the Korean conflict. He was Capt. Daniel P. Juraschek (now USA Col. Ret.). He doesn't talk much about Korea, but when he does he is very proud and fond of the men he commanded and served with. I would like to know more about what you and he did in this important event - and I'd like to share your memories with him. Please write or contact me. Thanks.
