Comments: Does anyone remember the evacuation of Quemoy for Madam Chiang Kai Shek, when she came aboard to thank us, and authorized us to receive the China Service medal. I was lucky enough to have the duty, and got to shake her hand before we had to ask her to leave the ship because we were afraid someone would try to destroy the ship to get to her. we were loaded with ammo from Quemoy , etc.

Comments: About May 1962, I visited the USS Washburn berthed in Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia which was then open to the public. A brochure was collected during my visit, and a number of colour slides were taken.
I would like to know the dates when the Washburn visited Sydney, details of which I can add to the captions I am preparing for my slides.
Can any former crew member assist me with this quest?
