Comments: Most of 2nd RR Sq. went TDY to fooosa just weeks
after arriving

at Kadena AB, Okinawa in August/ September 1958.
Terminals were
set up in Taipai, and Kouisuing, the southern port
of fooosa,
with sites every 30 miles or so. During the next
couple of
months 8 Mig 17's were suppose to have been shot
down using our
ANTRC-24 Louisiana Circuit, by Chinese Nationaist
F-86 jets. I
had a hard time believing it even then. The US Air
Force was
allowing Sidewinder heat seeking air to airs to be
first used in
combat by another Air Force? Now, I stumble on to
information,
on the internet, that we even had Starfighters even
pics of the
104's being unloaded, with wings off, from C-
124's,secretly in
the country. Also 17 Migs, Not 8 were shot down
using just 17
Sidewinders. The U S Air Force was pulling the
triggers on the
Sidewinders. Ski and I had to go back to Okinawa
for new orders.
We flew from Kouisuing in a brown C-46, belonging
to the NCAF.
We first had to take some Chinese soldiers out to
an island near
Communist China. They had wives, kids and their
GOATS and a box of
chickens on the plane with us.. We flew in clouds
without seeing
the water, until just before landing we went to a
lower altitude
to land. The only thing to be seen was the landing
strip, not
any buildings. So we landed and the soldiers,
families, goats and
chickens hurried off and we turned around and took
off back into
the clouds till just before we landed at Tai-Chung
AB. Anybody
ever have an experience like that? We had a site
somewhere on an
island toward Mainland China, and the site crew
had to get there
on a PT boat. I used to have a picture of a 2nd RR
guy wearing a
helmet on their way back from a supply run. One of
those wide
helmets used for radio earphones. In late 1959 we
moved 5th Comm

Grp Headquarters and 2nd RR Sqdn to Clark Field
AB, PI.

Comments: Equality with respect to Veteran dioxin exposure presumption
for all Veterans

Hi,

Currently only veterans of the Vietnam Conflict are afforded
this in a limited presumption, Boots on GroundĀ legislation, if
they were in the Republic of Vietnam (Served in the Republic of
Vietnam between 1/9/62 and 5/7/75) per the Department of
Veterans Affairs. In fact any current end date for any location
would be invalid as Dioxins stay active for much longer than
the time since the 1962 admitted RVN Agent Orange / Dioxin
start date, current end date is the end date for RVN service,
per the DVA. I was in an exposed unit, one of many and in many
countries, not recognized by the DVA.

That's why I created a petition to The United States House of
Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack
Obama.

We the undersigned petition the US Senate, US Congress and the
President of the United States to enact legislation that makes
ALL veterans have equal presumption of exposure to Dioxins
while in the service of the United States at any location or
unit. We feel that ALL veterans MUST be treated equally with
respect to Dioxin exposure by the US government and Department
of Veterans Affairs.

NOTE: Veterans must also still prove they have a recognized
condition, that maybe caused by Dioxin exposure, during or
after service to get DVA benefits.

Any one 18 can sign.
If effected vet make sure you add your statement in comment
area too!

I am trying to track down some information. I've

but he never disclosed much info about his time
there...until yesterday. I had a 13 hour car ride

was a 1729 - Combat Engineer. He said he was part of
the 115th Combat Engineer Division (altough I do not
know if Division is correct, maybe Infantry?).
I have searched for any patches, symbols, etc for
both his career field, 1729 and, the 115th as he
described it...and I've been unsuccessful.

Do any of you know where I might find this info, if
there are any specific patches, symbols, etc?
I'd like to make some kind of memoribilia for him...

Thanks y'all.
